(PRESS RELEASE) GRAZ, 12-Feb-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — International technology group ANDRITZ has secured a contract with Olympic Steel, Inc. to deliver a state-of-the-art cut-to-length line for their Minneapolis, Minnesota facility. The installation of this new equipment is expected to significantly boost Olympic Steel’s production capabilities and operational efficiency, with the line scheduled for commissioning in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The cut-to-length line is designed to handle coils with specifications of 0.135 inches by 60 inches wide and 60,000 pounds (approximately 3.5 mm x 1,525 mm wide x 27 metric tons), running at a speed of 300 feet per minute (about 91 meters). It is capable of processing materials with yield strengths up to 80,000 PSI, including cold-rolled, pickled and oiled, stainless, and coated materials.

Among the key features of the new line are a heavy-duty precision leveler designed to handle increased separating loads, a split-leveler drive system for enhanced leveling performance, and a high-accuracy roll feed system that ensures consistent repeatability. The production shear operates at a rate of 60 cuts per minute, followed by a sheet inspection process. Additional features include reject stacking, an air float stacker, a weigh scale, and line safety fencing with gate interlocks in compliance with ANSI standards. The electrical panels are UL-certified for enhanced safety and reliability.

This advanced cut-to-length line is poised to deliver high performance and precision, reinforcing Olympic Steel’s commitment to excellence in metals processing. The order further highlights ANDRITZ’s expertise and strong track record in the field of industrial equipment for the metals sector.
