ANDRITZ to Pioneer Industrial-Scale Fiberboard Recycling with Sonae Arauco Partnership

(IN BRIEF) ANDRITZ has been contracted to supply the world’s first industrial-scale fiberboard recycling line to Sonae Arauco’s mill in Mangualde, Portugal. This innovative system will recycle end-of-life fiberboards into valuable fibers for new fiberboard production. Sonae Arauco emphasized the importance of this project in promoting a circular economy by reducing resource and energy consumption. The recycling line, featuring ANDRITZ’s advanced Steam-Ex technology, is set to be operational by the second quarter of 2025, reinforcing ANDRITZ’s leadership in the fiberboard industry.

(PRESS RELEASE) GRAZ, 14-Aug-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — International technology group ANDRITZ has been awarded a contract to deliver a groundbreaking dry fiberboard recycling line to Sonae Arauco’s facility in Mangualde, Portugal. This pioneering system will allow end-of-life fiberboards to be recycled into valuable fibers, providing new raw material for fiberboard production. The project represents the first industrial-scale fiberboard recycling line globally.
