Alstom Spain signed Declaration of Adhesion to the Spanish Green Growth Group led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment

MADRID, 15-1-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — Alstom Spain signed a Declaration of Adhesion to the Spanish Green Growth Group, led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, whose aim is to move towards a low carbon economy.

The creation of the Spanish Green Growth Group is an initiative driven by the European Union for the creation of so-called “Green Growth Groups” that seeks to increase the participation of companies in the climate change debate and promote the necessary public-private cooperation.

Under this scenario, the Spanish Green Growth Group highlights the consensus reached during the last European Council which agreed to reduce at least 40 percent of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 compared to 1990 levels; increase renewable energy sources, to reach 27 percent of the final energy consumed in Europe in 2030; and improve energy efficiency by 27 percent by 2030.

To meet the growing demand and contribute to prevent further global climate change, Alstom seeks innovative and sustainable answers. We ensure that all of our solutions are designed through a life cycle approach at each step of the product life, from materials, manufacturing processes and daily operating uses to upkeep and recycling. All of Alstom sectors – Power, Grid, and Transport – offer clean, smart and efficient products and solutions based on sustainable technologies, which contribute to environmental protection”, said Antonio Moreno, president of Alstom Spain.
