(PRESS RELEASE) LUND, 9-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Alfa Laval has finalized the purchase of Fives Energy Cryogenics, the cryogenics division of Fives renowned for its expertise in cryogenic heat transfer and pump solutions. This strategic acquisition broadens Alfa Laval’s offerings in the energy sector and reinforces its drive to develop advanced technologies that support the transition to cleaner energy.

Fives Energy Cryogenics brings a robust platform of heat exchangers and pumps designed for the liquefaction, regasification, and transport of gases such as LNG, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen. Integrating these capabilities will enhance Alfa Laval’s LNG portfolio and dovetail with its existing strengths in hydrogen technologies and carbon capture systems.

“Welcoming Fives Energy Cryogenics into our group represents a pivotal moment for Alfa Laval,” said Tom Erixon, CEO and President. “Their proven cryogenic technology enriches our product range, strengthens our position in emerging markets, and underlines our commitment to sustainable growth and innovation in the energy landscape.”

With over 65 years of experience, Fives Energy Cryogenics operates from its headquarters in France and maintains manufacturing sites in France, China, and Switzerland. The business unit employs more than 700 professionals and generated about EUR 200 million in revenue in 2024. Upon closing—following the receipt of all regulatory approvals—the cryogenics arm will join Alfa Laval’s Energy Division as a standalone business unit, with integration activities commencing immediately.

The closing of the acquisition was subject to necessary regulatory approvals, as previously communicated here.
