Ahlstrom expands Turin site with advanced molecular filtration media line to meet global demand

(IN BRIEF) Ahlstrom has launched a state-of-the-art molecular filtration media production line at its Turin site, enhancing its leadership in sustainable specialty materials and meeting growing global demand for configurable, high-performance filtration solutions. The new infrastructure features advanced process controls for customizing adsorbent blends and includes a test bench to support partners in fine-tuning their products. Complementing the existing Trinitex® Carbon platform, the expansion targets critical markets—cabin and fuel cell air intake, HVAC and cleanrooms—and aligns with Ahlstrom’s strategy to deliver next-generation technologies that purify air and liquids while promoting environmental protection. VP Global Filtration Giuseppe Costa highlighted that this investment accelerates innovation and reinforces the company’s promise of reliable quality for customers.

(PRESS RELEASE) HELSINKI, 19-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Ahlstrom has inaugurated a cutting-edge production line for molecular filtration media at its Turin facility in Italy, marking a significant expansion of its specialty materials manufacturing capabilities. This new line, equipped with advanced technologies, allows for unparalleled customization and design versatility: customers can fine-tune adsorptive performance by selecting specific adsorbent types, precise blend ratios and tailored content levels. Alongside the production line, Ahlstrom has installed a dedicated molecular filtration test bench to collaborate closely with filtration manufacturers in developing and optimizing high-performance solutions.

Building on the Ahlstrom Trinitex® Carbon platform, the investment addresses rising demand for premium molecular filtration in applications such as cabin and fuel cell air intake systems, HVAC installations and cleanroom environments. First announced in 2024, the Turin expansion underpins Ahlstrom’s broader strategy to pioneer next-generation filtration technologies that safeguard air and liquid quality while protecting people, processes and ecosystems.

“This facility reflects our commitment to pushing the boundaries of filtration innovation and elevates our molecular filtration expertise,” said Giuseppe Costa, Vice President of Global Filtration. “By broadening our technological capabilities, we ensure that our customers continue to benefit from the dependable, high-quality solutions they rely on.”
