TÜV Rheinland Certifies Osmofresh Reverse Osmosis Water Dispensers for Long-Term Hygienic Performance and Drinking Water Safety

TÜV Rheinland Certifies Osmofresh Reverse Osmosis Water Dispensers for Long-Term Hygienic Performance and Drinking Water Safety

(IN BRIEF) TÜV Rheinland has awarded Hygienic Properties Certification to Osmofresh Electrical Reverse Osmosis Water Dispensers following comprehensive testing of material safety, hygiene, and long-term performance. The certification confirms compliance with European food contact regulations, heavy metal migration limits, and microbiological hygiene standards, including resistance to common waterborne microorganisms. Covering multiple dispenser models, the assessment demonstrates that Osmofresh systems maintain hygienic internal conditions even after prolonged use, supporting safe and consistent drinking water quality and reinforcing confidence in the company’s water purification technology.

(PRESS RELEASE) COLOGNE, 30-Jan-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — TÜV Rheinland has awarded its Hygienic Properties Certification to a range of Osmofresh Electrical Reverse Osmosis Water Dispensers, following extensive independent testing against international hygiene, material safety, and performance standards for products intended for contact with drinking water. The certification applies to the Osmofresh models ROFUT.M, ROFUL.M, ROFBT, and ROFBL, confirming their suitability for hygienic long-term use in residential and commercial environments.

The certification process involved a detailed assessment of all materials that come into direct contact with drinking water. TÜV Rheinland evaluated compliance with food-grade safety and hygiene requirements, including testing for the migration of 19 heavy metals in line with EU EN 14350 standards associated with children’s drinking equipment. Additional assessments covered 12 criteria under European food contact material regulations as well as Germany’s Food and Feed Code (LFGB), ensuring that materials meet strict safety thresholds for potable water applications.

Beyond material safety, the evaluation included comprehensive microbiological testing of the dispensers’ internal components. Conducted in accordance with DIN EN 16889 for food equipment hygiene, the testing examined the presence of microorganisms such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The results demonstrated that the internal systems of the Osmofresh dispensers maintained hygienic conditions even after simulated long-term usage, supporting consistent water quality over time.

The findings confirm that the Osmofresh electrical reverse osmosis systems meet TÜV Rheinland’s criteria for hygienic performance, reflecting their ability to maintain cleanliness and safety under realistic operating conditions. This is particularly relevant for appliances designed for continuous daily use, where long-term material integrity and resistance to microbial contamination are critical.

The certification highlights the role of independent testing and verification in strengthening consumer confidence in drinking water technologies. By meeting TÜV Rheinland’s rigorous hygiene standards, Osmofresh reinforces its focus on delivering reliable water purification solutions that align with European regulatory expectations and public health requirements.
