Mercedes-Benz Trucks Supports Ebeling’s Expansion as the German Logistics Leader Embraces Modern and Electric Transport

(IN BRIEF) Ebeling, one of northern Germany’s long-established logistics companies, has grown from a small regional hauler into a major European transport provider while maintaining a decades-long partnership with Mercedes-Benz Trucks. Since purchasing its first Mercedes-Benz truck in 1969, the company has ordered more than 1,000 vehicles, relying on the brand’s durability, spare-parts support and advanced technology. The latest addition, an Actros L with ProCabin, has impressed drivers with its efficiency-focused design and features like the Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2 and Connected Traffic Warnings. Veteran driver Stefan Miethe emphasised how modern assistance systems significantly improve safety and comfort compared to earlier decades. Ebeling is also pushing forward with sustainability by adopting HVO fuel and preparing to deploy battery-electric eActros 600 trucks supported by high-capacity solar-powered charging stations. A recent field trial showed strong enthusiasm among drivers for the new electric models, reinforcing the company’s commitment to modern, future-ready transport operations.

(PRESS RELEASE) LEINFELDEN-ECHTERDINGEN / WEDEMARK, 25-Nov-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — For nearly a century, Ebeling has been a central force in northern Germany’s logistics and transport landscape. What began 98 years ago as a single-person operation hauling goods with a horse-drawn wagon has evolved into a multinational logistics group serving major clients across Europe. From engines and crane components to hazardous goods and fresh food, the company has built a reputation for handling complex freight with reliability and precision.

A defining element of Ebeling’s growth has been its long-standing collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Trucks, a partnership that began in the late 1960s and remains strong today. “It was probably in 1969 when the first Mercedes-Benz truck came to us. And then we never let go,” says Managing Director Stefan Gulbins, who leads the fourth-generation family business together with Hendrik Ebeling and Oliver Kilian. Over the decades, more than 1,000 Mercedes-Benz trucks have been added to the fleet, with the 1,000th vehicle—an Actros—now transporting heavy engines across Germany and Europe before they are flown onward by cargo aircraft.

According to Gulbins, the loyalty to Mercedes-Benz Trucks comes down to several key advantages: durability, longevity, dependable spare-parts availability and strong technical expertise. “Other manufacturers simply couldn’t offer us the same value,” he says. Ebeling has consistently ensured its Actros trucks feature the latest innovations and top-tier equipment to keep pace with customer expectations.

Among the newest additions is the Mercedes-Benz Actros L with ProCabin, which has become a talking point since joining the fleet of around 175 tractor units and 200 trailers. The redesigned cab—built for aerodynamics, efficiency and driver comfort—initially surprised some drivers, says experienced driver Stefan Miethe. “The look took some getting used to, but the more you looked, the better it became. It’s a real eye-catcher and the GigaSpace version offers a huge amount of room and great features,” he notes. Miethe especially appreciates the Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2, which offers a streamlined menu layout, voice control, improved connectivity and applications like Connected Traffic Warnings that detect and share hazard alerts with nearby vehicles.

Reflecting on his three decades behind the wheel, Miethe says technological change has transformed the job. He considers modern driver-assistance systems—cruise control, adaptive cruise control and emergency brake assist—essential for comfort and road safety. He recalls that his serious accident in 1996, which resulted in a fractured cervical vertebra, may have been preventable with today’s emergency braking technology. “I wish we had these systems earlier,” he says.

Ebeling is also advancing its sustainability efforts with notable momentum. At the request of customers, the company recently began using HVO fuel as a near carbon-neutral alternative to diesel. Soon, the first battery-electric eActros 600 vehicles will arrive, supported by planned proprietary 400 kW charging stations powered by on-site solar energy. The electric trucks will be used on two-shift operations between Dortmund and Hamburg, running up to 700 kilometers per day. Early driver feedback from a four-week pilot trial has been overwhelmingly positive. “The silence, the driving experience—no one wanted to go back,” says Gulbins.
