(PRESS RELEASE) BIETIGHEIM-BISSINGEN, 12-Nov-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Dürr has announced the successful installation of Indonesia’s first-ever RoDip® E system as part of a new turnkey paint line for PT Handal Indonesia Motor. This project marks a significant step forward for Indonesia’s automotive manufacturing capabilities, integrating advanced, flexible, and sustainable pre-treatment and painting technologies that align with Industry 4.0 digitalization standards. The collaboration reinforces Indonesia’s role as an emerging hub for automotive production in Asia.

Based in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Dürr has a longstanding relationship with PT Handal Indonesia Motor dating back to 1975, when it built its first paint shop in the country for the former Zastam Motor company — later acquired by Handal. Over the decades, Handal has built a reputation as one of Indonesia’s veteran automotive producers, particularly through its 26 years of assembling and painting Hyundai vehicles. The company’s renewed partnership with Dürr underscores mutual trust and a shared commitment to excellence, with the new facility designed to expand Handal’s production capacity and ability to serve multiple global brands.

The highlight of the new installation is the RoDip® E system, being deployed in Indonesia for the first time. The innovative technology allows for vehicle-specific, individually controlled dip curves, making it one of the most flexible systems in the global market. Its space-saving recirculation system and modular design provide scalability, enabling capacity to increase from five to fifteen car bodies per hour. Dürr has also equipped the facility with proven EcoDry X dry separation and advanced dryers, both of which contribute to a more sustainable production process by eliminating the need for chemicals or water.

Digital efficiency is at the core of the plant’s operations. Dürr’s DXQequipment.operation platform, an Industry 4.0-based IoT system, enables real-time visualization of production and process data, improving both performance and productivity. Construction for the facility began in December 2024, with full production expected to start by autumn 2025 — an exceptionally swift timeline for a project of this scale.

This milestone positions PT Handal Indonesia Motor as a key player in Southeast Asia’s automotive future. By adopting state-of-the-art painting and digital technologies, the company aims to attract international automotive brands for local production while promoting Indonesia’s growing reputation as a sustainable, technologically advanced manufacturing base. Dürr’s role, supported by decades of global experience, reaffirms its leadership in providing cutting-edge solutions for the evolving automotive landscape.
