(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, 11-Dec-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Skyports Infrastructure, through ACS Infra / Iridium, has been awarded the contract to operate the Manhattan Downtown Heliport by the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC). This significant development is part of a broader effort to transform the heliport into a sustainable, multi-modal transportation and logistics hub.

The heliport’s management and enhancement will be overseen by Downtown Skyport, a joint venture between Skyports Infrastructure and Groupe ADP. The project aims to make New York the first city globally to adapt its heliport infrastructure to accommodate cutting-edge technologies, including electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. In addition to supporting the city’s growing demand for advanced air mobility solutions, the project will also facilitate the integration of last-mile maritime cargo delivery, reducing truck traffic in urban areas and contributing to a cleaner, quieter cityscape.

Skyports is set to play a central role in this pioneering project, positioning New York as a leader in sustainable air mobility. With the ACS Group’s commitment to building greener, more efficient infrastructures, this initiative marks a critical step towards realizing a more sustainable future in urban transport.
