Boralex and Saint-Gobain Sign 20-Year Agreement to Power French Operations with Renewable Energy

(IN BRIEF) Boralex and Saint-Gobain have signed a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to supply renewable energy from three Boralex power plants in France, consisting of two solar plants and one wind farm. Set to begin operations between 2026 and 2027, these facilities will produce approximately 110 GWh annually, meeting about 10% of Saint-Gobain’s electricity needs in France. This partnership aligns with Saint-Gobain’s strategy to decarbonize its operations and Boralex’s commitment to offering sustainable energy solutions through a trusted partnership.

(PRESS RELEASE) COURBEVOIE, 8-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Boralex Inc. (TSX: BLX) and Saint-Gobain (EPA: SGO) have entered into a significant 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) in France, under which Boralex will provide renewable electricity from three of its power plants. This agreement will integrate wind and solar energy sources to deliver a stable and sustainable energy supply for Saint-Gobain’s industrial facilities throughout France.

The agreement encompasses two solar plants and one wind farm, set to begin operations between early 2026 and early 2027. Together, these facilities are expected to generate around 110 GWh annually, which equates to the yearly electricity consumption of over 50,000 residents and will cover roughly 10% of Saint-Gobain’s energy needs in France.

“This agreement represents a major milestone in our efforts to decarbonize our French operations,” noted Claire Pedini, Senior Vice-President of Human Resources and Corporate Social Responsibility at Saint-Gobain. “Through this partnership with Boralex, we’re securing a long-term renewable energy source while advancing the energy transition across our industrial sites in France. It’s a clear example of our commitment to driving sustainability in the industry.”

Nicolas Wolff, Boralex’s Executive Vice President and General Manager for Europe, added, “This PPA reflects our capability to deliver customized energy solutions, drawing on our diverse portfolio of wind and solar resources. We are thrilled to collaborate with Saint-Gobain in a partnership built on trust, enabling them to secure cost-effective, renewable energy over the next 20 years and contributing to a successful energy transition.”
