ZEISS presents virtual reality applications at 2015 Gamescom in Cologne, Germany

Discover virtual reality applications with the ZEISS VR ONE at the Gamescom convention in Cologne, Germany, until 9 August 2015

COLOGNE, OBERKOCHEN, 4-8-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — Extraordinary perspectives and impressive virtual reality (VR) applications: the ZEISS VR ONE opens up entirely new possibilities for VR users. Combined with the remotely controlled Jumping Sumo mini-vehicle from Parrot, the mobile VR glasses provide users with a first-person view and put their surroundings in an entirely different light. “The frog’s eye view from the Jumping Sumo and the simple control of the mini-vehicle via head movement is really a lot of fun,” says ZEISS VR ONE Product Manager Franz Troppenhagen. Until 9 August 2015, visitors to the Gamescom in Cologne, will have the opportunity to personally test the ZEISS VR ONE at the ZEISS booth (Hall 10.1, Booth B-061). “Equipped with an Apple iOS or Android smartphone, the headset featuring integrated ZEISS precision lenses incorporates the power of the phone to give users the feeling that they are immersed in another world,” says Troppenhagen describing the VR glasses.

“You don’t really understand the enthusiasm for virtual reality until you try it out,” explains Troppenhagen. For this reason, ZEISS is focusing on the various applications of the VR glasses at Gamescom 2015. For gamers, the combination of the ZEISS VR ONE, a smartphone, a PC and the Trinus VR solution means considerable added value: the PC image is converted into an image for the ZEISS VR ONE and transmitted to the smartphone via Wi-Fi. All PC games can now be used in the VR mode with the application. Moving your head changes the viewing direction in a realistic manner. “As a result, ZEISS VR ONE users receive an exciting and immersive gaming experience that would not be possible with a PC alone,” emphasizes Troppenhagen.

For the first time, Gamescom visitors will have the opportunity to try out the new Iron Archeologyst VR game with the ZEISS VR ONE. In this demo game, wearers of VR glasses dive into a fascinating virtual underwater world and experience the pioneering simulation technology behind the ZEISS VR ONE with the help of a game pad and a complex, interactive artificial intelligence developed by the company.
