WPP and Women Political Leaders to increase both the number and the influence of women in political leadership positions

LONDON, 28-Nov-2018 — /EuropaWire/ — WPP today announces a new partnership with Women Political Leaders (WPL) – the only global network of female politicians with a mission to increase both the number and the influence of women in political leadership positions – as part of its long-term commitment to promote gender equality.

WPP’s Landor, a global brand consultancy, and data, insights and consulting company, Kantar, have collaborated with WPL to launch two innovative tools at the Women Leaders Global Forum (WLGF, 26 – 28 November). The annual forum brings female leaders together to discuss and share ideas and solutions on how to further advance society, increase equality between women and men, and promote and positively develop the number of women in leadership positions.

To coincide with the WLGF event, Kantar launched the Reykjavik Index for Leadership, the first index of its kind to assess people’s perceptions of women and men’s suitability for leadership.

The joint Kantar and WPL initiative measures the extent to which society is comfortable with women in leadership as compared to men in leadership, the variation of views across different sectors and the dissonance between men’s and women’s views. Surveying the attitudes of more than 10,000 people, it evaluates the G7 group of nations and across 20 industries and public professions.

Dr Michelle Harrison, Global CEO of Kantar Public and WPP Government and Public Sector Practice, said: “Evidence is an essential tool in public policy and social progress. We have created the Reykjavik Index for Leadership to support the journey to equality for men and women. We believe in a world where women and men have an equal right and opportunity, not just to participate in all aspects of economic and political life, but to lead.”

Using cutting-edge technology and innovative design techniques, Landor has pioneered a new form of socially responsive design to create a living identity for the WLGF brand. Named ‘The Pulse’, the design translates the social conversation surrounding women in leadership into a living brand asset, visualising the conversation in real time.

Jane Geraghty, Global CEO of Landor, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have been a part of this initiative.  We’ve been able to use technology and design in service of an issue that we care deeply about: female leadership.

“The Pulse design system – fuelled by real conversation, powered by cutting-edge technology and using innovative design techniques – has power beyond simply branding.  The live nature of the asset demonstrates WPL’s commitment to openness and transparency around the subject, giving us all a real chance to drive positive change. We’re enormously proud to have partnered with such an incredible group of powerful women to make today’s work real.”
