University of Warwick Earns Outstanding Rating for Apprenticeship End Point Assessments

(IN BRIEF) The University of Warwick has earned an Outstanding rating from the Office for Students for its excellence in End Point Assessments for degree apprenticeships, particularly in the Advanced Clinical Practitioner program. This recognition underscores Warwick’s commitment to high-quality education and support for apprentices.

(PRESS RELEASE) COVENTRY, 21-Feb-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — The University of Warwick has achieved the highest possible rating in a recent quality assurance review conducted by the Office for Students (OfS). The university was recognized for its excellence as an End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) for integrated degree apprenticeships, particularly in its Advanced Clinical Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship program.

The OfS review, which assessed how well Warwick’s apprenticeship offerings align with national Apprenticeship Standards, evaluated the quality of End Point Assessments (EPAs), the support provided to apprentices, and the overall effectiveness of the program. Following a comprehensive evaluation, including an on-site visit in January 2025, Warwick was awarded an “Outstanding” rating, surpassing the required national standards for the program.

A Testament to Collaborative Efforts and Quality Standards
Jackie Whitehouse, Head of Work-Based & Professional Learning at Warwick and lead for the OfS monitoring visit, expressed pride in the outcome: “This is an exceptional result for Warwick. We had recently undergone our first full Ofsted inspection, achieving an Overall Effectiveness rating of ‘Good,’ and receiving the OfS notification was a delightful surprise. The team worked seamlessly, and we were eager to showcase our commitment to supporting the apprentices in the Advanced Clinical Practitioner programme.”

Whitehouse also praised the Warwick Medical School team for their meticulous documentation, which was commended by OfS assessors. “The success is a direct reflection of our collaborative work with apprentices, employers, and staff in creating work-related learning opportunities,” she said.

Praise for Warwick’s Commitment to Apprenticeships
Inspectors highlighted several strengths in Warwick’s apprenticeship programs, including its rigorous approach to assessment and its ability to ensure apprentices graduate with the necessary skills and knowledge for their chosen professions. The review also noted the strong, supportive relationships Warwick has with employers, the high standard of teaching, and the exceptional support provided to apprentices throughout their learning journey.

Helen Nolan, Director of Quality at Warwick Medical School, expressed her satisfaction with the outcome: “We are thrilled to receive such a positive outcome from the OfS, which recognizes the high-quality learning experience we provide. This review affirms the effectiveness of our apprenticeship programs and the dedication of everyone involved.”

Affirming Warwick’s Role in Supporting Apprenticeships
Warwick’s “Outstanding” rating as an EPAO reinforces the university’s long-standing commitment to delivering high-quality education and ensuring apprentices are well-supported through the final stages of their qualifications. With a growing number of integrated degree apprenticeships, the rating serves as a testament to Warwick’s dedication to educational excellence and the development of future professionals.
