University of Leicester historian Professor Roey Sweet appointed Director of Partnerships and Engagement by The Arts and Humanities Research Council

Leicester historian to assume role with research council

LEICESTER, 23-May-2018 — /EuropaWire/ — The Arts and Humanities Research Council has today (Wednesday, March 21) announced the appointment of Professor Roey Sweet to the position of Director of Partnerships and Engagement.

In this new role, Professor Sweet will oversee the Research Council’s diverse partnerships, including those with its Independent Research Organisations (IROs) and international research partners as well as leading on its engagement with the wider research community.

A historian of eighteenth-century urban and cultural history in Britain, Professor Sweet has been a lecturer at the University of Leicester for almost two decades and has headed up the University of Leicester’s Centre for Urban History since 2014.

Professor Andrew Thompson, Chief Executive of the Arts and Humanities Research Council, said: “We’re excited to welcome Roey to AHRC’s Senior Management Team in the vital role of Director of Partnerships and Engagement.  Her experience leading the Urban History team at the University of Leicester will be a great asset to the AHRC. Roey’s involvement and interest in heritage research will be a welcome addition to the council’s well established knowledge base.
