UHDENORA to supply BM 2.7 electrolyzer to Trans Carolina Products of USA

19-6-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — UHDENORA S.p.A. has received a new contract from Trans Carolina Products, LLC in Hamlet, North Carolina (USA) for the supply of a BM 2.7 electrolyzer with a nominal capacity of 100 MTPD of NaOH (100% NaOH basis) to meet internal raw material requirements at the site. As part of the contract the existing electrolyzer of the same nominal capacity is being upgraded to the latest cell technology.

UHDENORA’s BM 2.7 zero gap electrolyzers represent the state of the art technology for the production of chlorine, hydrogen and caustic soda, and are recognized from the market for their high reliability and the competitive power consumption.

Under this contract, UHDENORA will supply the basic engineering services for the plant expansion, together with the proven and energy-saving zero gap “Uhde single element” cells type BM 2.7, cellroom accessories cellroom accessories including transformer-rectifier, harmonic filtration and power factor correction, DC buss system, and electrolyzer instrumentation as well as the technical support for the commissioning of the electrolyzer.

Construction of the BM 2.7 cell elements as well as the catalyst layer of the electrodes will be performed by Industrie De Nora in its workshop in Germany.

The new electrolyser is scheduled to come on stream in the 3rd Quarter 2014.

UHDENORA is a joint company of ThyssenKrupp Uhde/Germany and Industrie De Nora/Italy, and has a workforce of 70 employees. The company’s activities focus on the design and construction of chemical and other industrial plants mainly in the following fields: chlor-alkali electrolysis, hydrochloric acid electrolysis and bleaching chemicals.Trans Carolina Products produces chlorine, caustic soda, and hydrogen for onsite production of both organic and inorganic products.
