(PRESS RELEASE) GÕPPINGEN, 2-Apr-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — TeamViewer, a global leader in digital workplace solutions, unveiled its new AI Opportunity in Manufacturing Report today at Hannover Messe, showcasing the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in the manufacturing sector. According to the report, 71% of manufacturing decision-makers expect AI to spark the largest productivity boom in a century. Already, employees are experiencing tangible benefits—AI is automating routine tasks, saving an average of 10 hours per month, and allowing them to focus on higher-value work.

Adoption and Maturity:
Driven by global challenges such as labor shortages and supply chain disruptions, AI adoption in manufacturing is surging. The report reveals that 78% of manufacturing leaders now use AI weekly, a significant jump from 46% last year. Despite this rapid uptake, only 28% of manufacturing leaders regard themselves as AI experts, even though 72% believe their organizations have reached a mature stage of AI integration. Key areas of application include customer support automation (28%), data analysis (23%), and supply chain optimization (19%), while advanced functions like forecasting and strategic decision-making are gaining momentum. “Digital-native young workers are at the forefront of integrating AI into traditional systems,” noted Mei Dent, Chief Product and Technology Officer at TeamViewer.

Advancements for Businesses and Individuals:
The report highlights that 77% of decision-makers see AI as critical for improving operational efficiency, as it automates repetitive tasks, reduces downtime, and enables a shift towards strategic decision-making. Furthermore, 78% report that AI has empowered them to focus on higher-level decision-making, and 33% have seen marked improvements in product quality and defect reduction—well above the industry average. On a personal level, 74% of workers say AI enhances their ability to analyze data, 72% credit it with helping them acquire new skills, and 71% view it as essential for career growth. Financially, 71% of manufacturers expect AI to boost revenue in the coming year, with an impressive projected growth of 188%.

Barriers and the Path Forward:
Despite these promising developments, the report identifies several challenges to broader AI adoption. Security concerns top the list, with 76% of respondents citing data risks, while 42% point to a lack of AI education, 30% to high implementation costs, and limited financial support for scaling initiatives as additional hurdles. Nevertheless, manufacturers remain optimistic—81% expect increased investment in AI over the next year. The report stresses the importance of targeted education, strategic financial planning, and leadership support, including the appointment of a Chief AI Officer (supported by 68% of respondents), to drive responsible and effective AI adoption.

Invest in AI, Access the Future:
The report concludes by emphasizing that continued investment in AI is crucial for manufacturing to realize its full potential. A remarkable 96% of respondents believe that additional training is essential to mitigate risks, and 74% plan to implement further educational programs. “We’ve only scratched the surface of AI’s transformative potential,” said Mei Dent. “By focusing on collaboration, education, and responsible adoption, manufacturers can unlock remarkable benefits and drive innovation.”
