(PRESS RELEASE) BERN, 15-Aog-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Swisscom is welcoming 194 new apprentices and degree students as they embark on their vocational training journey, while also celebrating the achievements of 222 young people who have successfully completed their apprenticeships and studies. The milestone marks both an exciting beginning for new entrants and a proud moment for those graduating into the next phase of their careers.

In keeping with its brand positioning, Discover your possibilities, Swisscom is currently training around 700 apprentices, offering diverse pathways in IT, Interactive Media Design, Mediamatics, Commercial Education, Retailing Specialist, and Digital Business Development (Federal VET Diploma). This year, 188 apprentices will begin training in these disciplines, with a further six students starting a bachelor’s degree in IT with integrated practice. Fourteen new recruits will join Swisscom subsidiary cablex, training as network electricians or assembly electricians (Federal VET Diploma) specialising in telecommunications.

“Besides representing future talent, our apprentices also bring fresh ideas and inspiration for today,” said Stefanie Gansterer, Head of Next Generation. “It is both a privilege and an honour to accompany them on their journey. Their openness, ideas, and independence provide a breath of fresh air to our working lives, showing just how much potential lies in the next generation.”

Swisscom’s apprenticeship model is built on flexibility and independence. Apprentices and degree students design their own learning pathways, applying for projects via an internal online marketplace that exposes them to different areas of the business and fosters cross-functional collaboration. This modular approach gives them the chance to broaden their skills while gaining practical experience.

This summer, Swisscom also celebrated the success of 219 apprentices who completed their training, achieving an impressive pass rate of 97.3 percent. All eleven apprentices at cablex passed their final examinations, with eight choosing to remain at the company to put their new skills to work.

Through its commitment to hands-on learning, tailored training routes, and close mentoring, Swisscom continues to invest in developing the next generation of skilled professionals for Switzerland’s digital future.
