Statement by the spokesperson of EU High Representative Catherine Ashton on the death of King Father Norodom Sihanouk

Brussels, 18-10-2012 — /europawire.eu/ — The spokesperson of Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, issued the following statement today:

“It is with great sadness that the High Representative has learnt of the passing away of King Father Norodom Sihanouk. She wishes to express her sincere condolences and sympathy to King Norodom Sihamoni, to Queen Mother Norodom Monineath, to all members of the Royal family and to the
people of Cambodia.

King Norodom Sihanouk was a well respected leader and a key figure in Cambodia’s recent history. The EU will continue to stand by Cambodia.”
