(PRESS RELEASE) DARMSTADT, 8-Jan-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Software GmbH, the parent company of Software AG, has officially completed the sale of its Alfabet and Cumulocity businesses, following the earlier divestments of webMethods, StreamSets, and TrendMiner in July. These moves mark a significant shift in the company’s strategy, as it refocuses on Adabas & Natural (A&N) and ARIS, each now operating as independent entities with dedicated management teams. Sanjay Brahmawar, who has led Software AG through a transformative six years, will step down as Group CEO, a transition that aligns with the ongoing restructuring efforts.

Brahmawar played a pivotal role in reshaping Software AG from a legacy software provider to a modern business centered around subscription-based services and SaaS solutions, with a strong emphasis on annual recurring revenue (ARR). His leadership was instrumental in the acquisition of StreamSets, which, alongside webMethods, became known in the market as Super-iPaaS. This innovation culminated in the sale of the business to IBM in July 2024. Brahmawar also spearheaded the carve-out of TrendMiner, Cumulocity, and Alfabet.

As part of the leadership transition, Silver Lake, Software GmbH’s major investor, has appointed Martin Biegel, Martin Clemm, Robin Colman, and Toktam Khatibzadeh as the new senior executives overseeing the holding company. Software GmbH will now manage ARIS, A&N, and the central functions of Software AG.

Both ARIS and Adabas & Natural are continuing to invest heavily in product innovation and talent acquisition as part of their long-term growth strategies. A&N, a leader in high-performance, non-relational transactional database software, has supported mission-critical business processes across various platforms, including mainframe, Linux, and cloud. The company’s 2050+ strategy emphasizes ongoing innovation to meet its customers’ evolving needs.

Meanwhile, ARIS remains a leader in business process intelligence with cloud-native solutions for process modeling and mining. The company’s software is widely recognized for its ability to help organizations optimize the entire lifecycle of their processes, generating significant efficiencies and value for customers.

Reflecting on his tenure, Brahmawar expressed pride in leading Software AG through transformative moments. “It has been an honor to guide this remarkable company, and I leave confident that the talented management team we have in place will drive its continued success,” he said. “I am grateful for the support from my colleagues, the Board, and especially from Silver Lake during my time with Software AG.”

Christian Lucas, Managing Partner of Silver Lake and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Software GmbH, extended his gratitude to Brahmawar. “We thank Sanjay for his leadership in driving the company’s transformation and for his outstanding contributions to Software AG’s success,” Lucas said. “As we look to the future, we are excited to continue investing in ARIS and A&N and support their growth plans as independent entities.”
