Skanska signs with New York City Transit to renovate four subway stations

STOCKHOLM, 22-Jun-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Skanska has signed a contract with New York City Transit for the improvements at four subway stations along the Astoria Line in the Borough of Queens in New York City, USA. The contract is worth USD 150M, about SEK 1.3 billion, which will be included in the US order bookings for the second quarter 2017.

The project, which includes design and construction, consists of the rehabilitation of four elevated transit stations; 30th Avenue, Broadway, 36th Avenue, and 39th Avenue. The work includes new stairs, guard rails, automated fare collection areas (AFC), partitions, windscreens, charging stations, canopy improvements and electrical upgrades as well as rehabilitating and strengthening of structural concrete and steel.

Construction began in April 2017 with an estimated completion in the first quarter of 2019.
