(IN BRIEF) Siemens has become the Official Digital Twin Sponsor of the FIA and joined its Global Partnership Programme. Expanding FIA’s use of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, the collaboration enables digital design and aerodynamic optimization of Formula 1 through Formula 4 cars, reducing environmental impact by limiting physical prototypes and wind tunnel testing. With over 14,000 CAD parts and 10,000 CFD runs completed since 2022, Siemens’ technology helps FIA push boundaries in performance, safety, and sustainability.

(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 15-Sep-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Siemens has been named “Official Digital Twin Sponsor” of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) as the global motorsport governing body expands its use of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio to design and refine next-generation single-seater race car concepts. The agreement also makes Siemens a founding member of the FIA’s newly established Global Partnership Programme, which unites world-leading organizations behind shared goals of innovation, sustainability, and safety across motorsport and mobility.

Through Siemens’ advanced digital twin technology, the FIA can digitally simulate and optimize aerodynamics for vehicles from Formula 1 through Formula 4, reducing the reliance on physical prototypes and minimizing environmental impact. Since 2022, the FIA aerodynamics team has leveraged Siemens’ Designcenter NX software to create over 14,000 CAD parts and run more than 10,000 computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tests, enabling faster, more sustainable, and more accurate design iterations.

“Motorsport is a living lab for innovation, incubating technological advances that often transform series production,” said Cedrik Neike, CEO of Digital Industries and Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG. “But the race begins long before the cars reach the track — it starts with advanced software and brilliant engineering. Our immersive digital twin technology enables the FIA to push the boundaries of performance, safety, and sustainability.”

Craig Edmondson, Chief Commercial Officer of the FIA, added:
“We’re proud to partner with global technology leaders like Siemens to shape the future of motorsport. This collaboration shows the strength of our partner ecosystem, where world-class brands help us drive progress in performance, safety, and sustainability.”

The FIA Global Partnership Programme fosters collaboration with leading organizations to accelerate technological progress across motorsport and the wider automotive industry. Siemens’ involvement underlines its role in driving sustainable innovation at the intersection of digital transformation and high-performance engineering.
