SGS Tops TIC Industry in TIME’s 2025 List of World’s Most Sustainable Companies

(IN BRIEF) SGS has been named to TIME’s 2025 list of the World’s Most Sustainable Companies for the second year running, topping the Testing, Inspection, and Certification category. Selected from over 5,000 firms, the 500 honorees were judged on a rigorous, data-driven methodology covering sustainability ratings, transparency, ESG performance, and governance. SGS’s placement reflects its swift implementation of Strategy 27, science-based targets validated by SBTi, and its achievement of 97% renewable electricity usage in 2024. CEO Géraldine Picaud highlights the company’s commitment to embedding sustainability across global operations and advancing toward net-zero emissions by 2050.

(PRESS RELEASE) GENEVA, 14-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — SGS, the global leader in testing, inspection, and certification, has once again earned a place among TIME’s World’s Most Sustainable Companies for 2025, as ranked by TIME in partnership with Statista. This marks the second consecutive year that SGS has been recognized—and as the highest-ranking firm in the Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) sector, the accolade underscores its pioneering role in embedding sustainability throughout its worldwide operations.

TIME’s annual list highlights 500 organizations across diverse industries, selected from over 5,000 evaluated candidates. The assessment hinges on a transparent, data-centric framework that examines each company’s external sustainability ratings, disclosure practices, environmental and social performance, and corporate governance metrics.

This honor reflects SGS’s rapid progress against its long-term sustainability blueprint, Strategy 27. Under that plan, SGS has committed to science-based climate objectives approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and aims for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. In 2024 alone, the company procured 97% of its electricity from renewable sources and earned a prominent position in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook, further demonstrating its environmental leadership.

Géraldine Picaud, Chief Executive Officer of SGS, stated, “We are delighted to be honored again by TIME and Statista for our sustainability efforts. This recognition is a testament to our teams’ unwavering dedication to integrating sustainable practices at every level of our business. By executing Strategy 27 with speed and ambition, we continue to drive meaningful impact for our clients, colleagues, and the planet.”
