Roland Berger and Jonas Andrulis Launch Independent AI Company Focused on Embedding Human Domain Knowledge into Complex Business Processes

(IN BRIEF) Jonas Andrulis has launched a new Munich-based AI startup focused on developing collaborative, agent-based artificial intelligence that integrates human domain expertise into enterprise decision-making processes. Roland Berger is the sole investor and will play an active operational role, with Global Managing Partner Stefan Schaible serving as COO of the new company. The venture aims to address shortcomings in current industrial AI deployments by embedding real-world process knowledge, industry context and human judgment directly into AI systems. Designed as a technology-agnostic and independent platform, the startup is currently developing proprietary solutions and initiating pilot projects with early customers. Roland Berger’s involvement combines financial backing with strategic and operational expertise to accelerate development and commercialization.

(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 12-Feb-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Roland Berger, the global management consultancy, has invested in and is actively building a newly launched AI startup founded by serial entrepreneur Jonas Andrulis. The Munich-based venture aims to establish a new category of agent-based artificial intelligence applications that integrate human domain expertise directly into AI-driven business processes.

The company is developing what it describes as collaborative AI technology designed to address a structural weakness in many current industrial AI deployments — the limited incorporation of human experience, operational realities and expert judgment into automated systems. While AI adoption is widespread, expected productivity gains have often fallen short, particularly in complex enterprise environments where decision-making processes depend on contextual knowledge and organizational dynamics.

According to Andrulis, the challenge frequently lies not in model performance or computing power, but in insufficient integration of AI into real-world workflows. The startup’s approach seeks to move beyond traditional “human-in-the-loop” concepts by placing human expertise at the core of decision logic. The objective is to create AI systems capable of functioning effectively in intricate corporate structures, where processes, responsibilities and industry-specific nuances are critical.

Roland Berger assumes active operational role

As the sole investor, Roland Berger is positioning itself as both strategic partner and operational contributor. The consultancy will support the build-out and scaling of the venture, leveraging its industry knowledge and transformation expertise. Stefan Schaible, Global Managing Partner at Roland Berger, will take on the additional role of Chief Operating Officer of the startup, overseeing organizational development and commercialization of the AI platform.

The partnership model extends beyond capital investment. Roland Berger intends to contribute deep sectoral knowledge, client-side process insight and an understanding of enterprise decision frameworks — elements viewed as essential for successful industrial AI implementation.

Independent structure and technology-agnostic design

The new company will operate independently in the market and adopt a technology-agnostic architecture. Its platform is designed to integrate with existing enterprise systems and technology stacks, allowing deployment without requiring fundamental infrastructure changes. This flexibility is intended to facilitate adoption across diverse industries and digital environments.

Currently in its build-up phase, the startup is prioritizing development of its proprietary AI technology and launching pilot projects with initial customers. A focused recruitment strategy aims to attract high-level talent in artificial intelligence and software engineering to support rapid growth. Additional information regarding branding, product positioning and commercial strategy will be disclosed at a later stage.

Roland Berger is one of the world’s leading strategy consultancies with a wide-ranging service portfolio for all relevant industries and business functions. Founded in 1967, Roland Berger is headquartered in Munich. Renowned for its expertise in transformation, innovation across all industries and performance improvement, the consultancy has set itself the goal of embedding sustainability in all its projects. Roland Berger generated revenues of around 1 billion euros in 2024.
