Prof Markus Pollnau’s “Optical Ultra-Sensor” research granted €2,5M from the European Research Council Executive Agency (ERCEA)

16-8-2013 — /EuropaWire/ — On 22nd of July the European Research Council Executive Agency (ERCEA) has announced that it is now in a position to initiate the preparation of the grant agreement for Prof Pollnau’s proposal entitled “Optical Ultra-Sensor”, short-named “OPUS”. Funding of 2,5 Million Euro will be made available for Prof Pollnau (EWI, MESA+) in the next 5 years. 

The award honors the scientific quality of Prof Pollnau’s research of which the last 8 years have been spent in Twente. Prof Pollnau who is also a Fellow of the Optical Society of America acknowledges the unique quality of the infrastructure in Twente with the Nanolab and MESA+ institute as that has created the conditions to excel scientifically and has made this success possible. In the next months the details of the grant will be filled in.
