Porsche Lizenz- und Handelsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG (Porsche Design Group) announced 20% sales growth in H1-2013

Sales up by more than 20 per cent for the first half of 2013

Stuttgart, 21-8-2013 — /EuropaWire/ — The global business activities of the Porsche Design Group (Porsche Lizenz- und Handelsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG) continued to develop at a consistently positive pace during the first half of 2013 fiscal. With its international luxury brand, Porsche Design, increased the turnover in its franchise business by almost 50 per cent, accompanied by the growth of around nine per cent in its own retail stores, compared to last year. Across all business segments, the Porsche Design Group’s turnover rose by more than 20 per cent to 75.5 million euros (previous year: 62.5 million euros) in the first six months of the year.

“The first six months of the fiscal year have been extremely positive. We are particularly pleased with the significant sales contribution of our first women’s handbag”, commented Juergen Gessler, CEO of the Porsche Design Group. “The TwinBag was launched in March to complement our ready-to-wear and lifestyle offerings for women. We are delighted with the consistently positive feedback that we have received from our female customers.”

To support its continued growth, for the second half of the year, the company is focusing on expanding its franchise activities for the luxury brand. Numerous new Porsche Design franchise stores have been opened, including in Miami and Charlotte (USA), Manila (Philippines), Jakarta (Indonesia), Macau (China), Tenerife (Spain) and Bucharest (Romania). The company has also stepped up its presence in the internationally important travel retail sector: Porsche Design is now represented at airports in Amsterdam (Netherlands), Vienna (Austria), Zurich (Switzerland), Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and Kazan (Russia)

In addition to Harrods in London and the Kaufhaus des Westens (KaDeWe) in Berlin, Porsche Design is now also represented at Harvey Nichols in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The Porsche Design luxury brand also opened a temporary retail store in Milan this past June.

Overall, the company expanded its global retail network to 128 Porsche Design stores in the first half of the year. A significant increase in the number of franchise and own-brand retail boutiques is planned by the end of the year.

In addition to the Porsche Design luxury brand, the activities of the Porsche Design Group include the following divisions: Porsche Driver’s Selection and the Porsche Design Studio in Zell am See (Austria).
