NORMA Group Secures Four-Year Contract to Supply Electrofusion Fittings for UK Gas Network Overhaul

(IN BRIEF) NORMA Group, through its Indian subsidiary Kimplas, has signed a four-year contract with Northern Gas Networks to supply over 280,000 electrofusion fittings annually for the modernization of the gas distribution network in northern England. These fittings, essential for connecting buildings to the main pipeline infrastructure, are part of a large-scale transition from aging metal pipes to durable plastic systems. The fittings provide secure, long-lasting connections using an electrofusion process. NORMA Group’s involvement highlights its growing role in supporting global infrastructure projects and its commitment to expanding within the gas and water pipeline market.

(PRESS RELEASE) MAINTAL, 15-Apr-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — NORMA Group is playing a key role in modernizing the gas distribution network in northern England through a new long-term collaboration with British infrastructure provider Northern Gas Networks. Since February 2025, Kimplas Piping Systems Private Ltd.—NORMA Group’s Indian subsidiary—has been delivering electrofusion fittings for residential and commercial gas connections under a four-year agreement. The deal will see over 280,000 fittings supplied annually through early 2029.

“This partnership underscores the critical importance of our technology in ensuring safe, reliable gas infrastructure,” said Mark Wilhelms, CEO of NORMA Group. “Our electrofusion fittings deliver long-lasting, secure pipeline connections, and this agreement reaffirms our strategic focus on supporting essential infrastructure upgrades globally.”

The fittings are an integral component of Northern Gas Networks’ broader initiative to replace aging metal pipes with modern, high-durability plastic alternatives. Used primarily at service connections—where the main distribution lines link to individual homes and businesses—the fittings are joined to the pipelines via electrofusion, a process that produces highly durable and leak-resistant bonds. The contract includes a range of fittings from 20 mm to 125 mm in diameter, tailored for both gas and water systems.

Northern Gas Networks maintains more than 36,000 kilometers of pipeline, serving around 2.9 million customers. The network upgrade represents a significant investment in improving safety, reliability, and efficiency for energy users across the region. With this new contract, NORMA Group further strengthens its footprint in the field of critical infrastructure, aligning with its broader ambition to expand globally in the gas and water pipeline segments.
