MICHELIN Guide Expands to Boston and Philadelphia, Joining the Northeast Cities Edition with Renowned Culinary Destinations

(IN BRIEF) MICHELIN Guide has expanded its Northeast Cities edition to include Boston and Philadelphia alongside previously recognized cities like Chicago, New York City, and Washington, DC. The announcement comes as the Guide’s Inspectors begin scouting culinary gems in both cities, marking their growing recognition as top culinary destinations. Boston and Philadelphia have evolved into global foodie hotspots, with a focus on innovation, tradition, and diverse culinary contributions from local chefs. Full restaurant selections will be unveiled during the MICHELIN Guide Northeast Cities Ceremony later in 2025.

(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 14-May-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — The MICHELIN Guide has announced the addition of Boston and Philadelphia to its esteemed list of culinary destinations. These cities will be featured in the newly introduced MICHELIN Guide Northeast Cities edition, joining established culinary capitals such as Chicago, New York City, and Washington, DC.

“We are thrilled to welcome Boston and Philadelphia into the MICHELIN Guide Northeast Cities edition,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides. “Both cities have long been known for their vibrant restaurant scenes, and their diverse offerings truly reflect the rich culinary histories and passionate communities present in each city. Our anonymous Inspectors are excited to discover and highlight the culinary treasures these cities have to offer.”

MICHELIN Guide Inspectors are already in the process of visiting the cities, making dining reservations, and uncovering hidden culinary gems. The full list of selected restaurants will be revealed at the annual MICHELIN Guide Northeast Cities Ceremony scheduled for later in 2025.

Gregg Caren, President and CEO of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, expressed his excitement: “Philadelphia’s transformation into a renowned culinary destination has been fueled by an impressive array of talented chefs, restaurateurs, and innovators. This recognition by the MICHELIN Guide reflects the hard work and collaboration that has turned our city into a must-visit spot for food lovers around the world.”

Martha J. Sheridan, President & CEO of Meet Boston, also celebrated the recognition: “Boston’s food scene has evolved dramatically in recent years, and the inclusion of the city in the MICHELIN Guide affirms that. Known for its iconic farm-to-table and sea-to-table dining, Boston has become a place where innovation meets tradition, showcasing an exciting blend of local flavors and global influences.”

As always, the MICHELIN Guide’s anonymous Inspectors are tasked with selecting restaurants based on their expertise and standards. The selection process is entirely independent, and while the MICHELIN Guide works closely with local tourism boards like Meet Boston and the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau for marketing and promotion, the integrity of the Guide’s reviews remains paramount.
