(IN BRIEF) Equinor has signed a long-term gas supply agreement with Pražská plynárenská that will secure natural gas deliveries to the Czech Republic until 2035. Supplies have already begun, with gas sourced from the Norwegian Continental Shelf to support heating, electricity and natural gas needs for households and businesses across Prague and the wider region. Equinor CEO Anders Opedal highlighted the contract as part of a series of long-term European agreements that underline gas’s role in energy security, while Pražská plynárenská Chairman Ludvík Baleka emphasised its importance for stable, reliable supply. The agreement reflects Equinor’s expanding presence in Central and Southern Europe, following previous market growth in the Baltics and Poland. Commercial volumes and terms remain confidential. The signing ceremony included Equinor and city officials, and Pražská plynárenská continues to play a central role in Prague’s energy system through its distribution network and its Prometheus subsidiary, which supports the city’s Climate Plan.

(PRESS RELEASE) STAVANGER, 21-Nov-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Equinor has entered into a significant long-term supply agreement with Pražská plynárenská, the Capital City of Prague’s gas and electricity provider, securing 10 years of natural gas deliveries to the Czech Republic. The gas supplied under this agreement originates from Norway’s highly reliable Norwegian Continental Shelf, one of Europe’s most important energy-producing regions. The volumes delivered by Equinor will support Prague’s ongoing demand for heating, electricity and natural gas, reinforcing Pražská plynárenská’s ability to serve customers efficiently and with dependable supply.

Anders Opedal, CEO of Equinor, said:
“I am pleased that we have entered into this agreement with Pražská plynárenská and that we are now providing energy to homes and enterprises in the Czech Republic. This contract adds to a series of long-term gas agreements we have signed across Europe in recent years, highlighting the essential role gas plays for European energy security.”

Ludvík Baleka, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pražská plynárenská, emphasised the importance of the agreement:
“This step significantly strengthens the stability and reliability of natural gas supplies for our customers. The scope of the agreement will cover a substantial share of the gas consumed by the households we supply.”

While Equinor has traditionally served markets in Northwest Europe and the UK, the company has spent the past decade expanding its reach, delivering gas to Poland, the Baltics, and now building a stronger presence among clients in Central and Southern Europe. The Czech Republic is becoming an increasingly strategic market as energy suppliers diversify and seek long-term partners with robust upstream resources.

The agreement, which runs until 1 October 2035, stipulates that Equinor will deliver the gas at the Czech hub. Specific details regarding supply volumes, pricing, and commercial terms remain confidential between the parties.

A signing ceremony brought together representatives from both sides, including Ludvík Baleka, Anders Opedal, Bohuslav Svoboda, Mayor of Prague, and Martin Slaby, member of the Pražská plynárenská board.
