Indra Presents Next Generation Gantry Free Tolling and Intelligent Traffic Systems for Global Mobility Networks

(IN BRIEF) Indra Group is presenting its latest smart mobility technologies at Intertraffic 2026, showcasing solutions designed to improve traffic efficiency, safety, and sustainability through connected infrastructure and advanced digital systems. Among the key innovations is a gantry-free free-flow tolling system that uses 3D LiDAR, artificial intelligence, artificial vision, and V2X communications to detect and classify vehicles in real time without requiring drivers to slow down or stop. The company will also highlight its In-Mova Traffic platform, which manages complex transport infrastructures including the Silvertown Tunnel in London, the Dublin Tunnel in Ireland, and Spain’s national traffic management network. With more than 2,500 mobility projects in over 100 cities and a major contract to operate London’s transport ticketing system until 2034, Indra continues to strengthen its role as a global provider of intelligent mobility solutions.

(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, 11-Mar-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Indra Group is presenting its latest innovations in intelligent mobility and connected vehicle technology at Intertraffic 2026, one of the world’s leading international events for traffic and mobility operators. The company will showcase advanced solutions designed to make road networks more efficient, safer, and more sustainable by connecting infrastructure, vehicles, control centers, and operators in real time.

At the exhibition, Indra will demonstrate how its integrated technology ecosystem combines artificial intelligence, advanced sensors, V2X communications, real-time analytics, and cloud-based platforms to support the next generation of smart transportation infrastructure. These systems are designed to enable fully connected mobility environments capable of supporting autonomous vehicles and emerging mobility services.

A key focus of Indra’s presentation will be its next-generation free-flow tolling system, which removes traditional roadside infrastructure that requires vehicles to slow down or stop. Instead of conventional gantries or road-based installations, the system uses a compact roadside totem equipped with multiple detection technologies.

The platform integrates 3D LiDAR sensors, artificial vision systems, artificial intelligence algorithms, and V2X communication technologies to identify and monitor vehicles as they travel at normal highway speeds. This architecture allows the system to detect, classify, and track vehicles automatically and with high accuracy in real time, even in challenging weather conditions.

The solution captures multiple data points including license plate information, axle counts, three-dimensional vehicle profiles, and the number of occupants inside vehicles. By correlating these data streams, the system can calculate appropriate toll charges while simultaneously exchanging information with connected vehicles.

Because the system does not require extensive physical infrastructure on the roadway, it reduces installation complexity, lowers maintenance requirements, and enhances safety for both drivers and road operators. The design also enables operators to provide real-time traffic and toll information directly to connected vehicles without requiring additional devices or applications.

Indra’s mobility solutions are already being deployed in major transportation projects across Europe. At Intertraffic, the company will highlight the capabilities of its In-Mova Traffic platform, an advanced system for integrated management of urban and interurban road networks.

In-Mova Traffic is currently used to support operations at several complex transport infrastructures, including the Silvertown Tunnel in London, which runs beneath the River Thames. The system integrates intelligent transportation systems, communications networks, and monitoring technologies to improve traffic flow and enable rapid responses to incidents.

Indra also has a strong presence in Ireland, where its technology supports key transportation infrastructure such as the Dublin Tunnel. The company has recently modernized the tunnel’s tolling technology to improve operational efficiency and enhance road safety.

In Spain, the In-Mova Traffic platform serves as the foundation for cloud-based traffic management systems used by the country’s Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT). The platform consolidates and analyzes data from multiple traffic management centers across the country, providing operators with centralized, real-time information to support decision-making and traffic control.

Indra’s mobility division continues to expand its international footprint. The company has delivered more than 2,500 mobility projects in over 100 cities worldwide, providing technology solutions that support safer, more efficient transportation networks.

The company is also one of the world’s leading providers of public transport management systems. Its position in the sector was reinforced by a major contract with Transport for London, under which Indra will operate, maintain, and further develop the ticketing system used across the entire London transport network until 2034.

Through its participation at Intertraffic 2026, Indra aims to demonstrate how intelligent infrastructure, connected vehicles, and advanced digital technologies can transform mobility systems and enable more efficient, sustainable transport networks in cities around the world.
