GEA Enhances NexGen Tablet Press with Intuitive, High-Impact Labeling System

(IN BRIEF) GEA has introduced a major update to its NexGen Tablet Press by launching a new set of enhanced labels designed to improve clarity and usability. The updated labels feature high-contrast visuals, refreshed icons, and integrated QR codes, enabling operators to quickly access essential information such as product details and maintenance instructions. This initiative, driven by customer feedback and industry advancements, aims to reduce errors, increase safety, and ensure compliance with current regulations. A GEA spokesperson highlighted that these improvements are a part of the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, reinforcing its leadership in tablet press technology. Overall, the update is set to provide a more intuitive and efficient user experience in tablet production.

(PRESS RELEASE) DÜSSELDORF, 17-Mar-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — GEA is proud to announce that its groundbreaking tablet compression technology has proven its power-saving potential, helping pharmaceutical manufacturers meet the strict requirements of ISO 14021. As one of the world’s largest suppliers of systems and components to the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries, GEA continues to advance the sustainability of large-scale production equipment for oral solid dosage forms. In an external audit conducted by TÜV Rheinland, a leading testing service provider, the NexGen Press® 45 has been verified to meet two of GEA’s new “Add Better” labels, a mark of excellence for both operational efficiency and environmental performance.

The newly introduced NexGen® Press series from GEA Pharma & Healthcare represents the pinnacle of tablet compression innovation in the pharmaceutical sector. Designed for high performance, these state-of-the-art machines simplify machine selection and facilitate rapid product changeovers while ensuring unrivaled containment and functional excellence. The “Add Better” label signifies that GEA’s solutions have achieved significant improvements over previous models in terms of both operational excellence and reduced environmental impact, proving that these innovations are not only cost-effective but also environmentally friendly.

During independent tests, the high-throughput NexGen Press® 45 was evaluated in standalone mode against a MODUL S machine. Following a series of rigorous trials, TÜV Rheinland certified that the NexGen Press® 45 could achieve operational utility savings of up to 27% in electric power usage. This notable improvement builds upon the success of the inaugural NexGen Press® 30 model, which earned an Add Better label in 2023 for achieving a 21% average power saving compared to a base machine configuration.

Further data integration combined test results from the NexGen Press® 45 with supplementary statistics from feeders and blenders used in a ConsiGma® CDC200 Continuous Direct Compression model. When adjusted to reflect the correct operational setup and theoretical power consumption, the overall energy savings reached 30% compared with a MODUL-equipped CDC50 combination.

Dr. James Holman, Senior Director Technology Management (Pharma Solids, GEA), commented, “These results are impressive and underscore GEA’s unwavering focus on sustainability. They are a testament to the ingenuity and dedication of our scientists and engineers who are committed to innovation and driving positive change within both our organization and the wider pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.”

He added, “Sustainability in global healthcare is no longer optional. Drug manufacturing carries a significant environmental footprint through resource use, waste generation, and emissions from production, packaging, and distribution. Embracing planet-friendly practices across the value chain is crucial to combat pollution, climate change, and resource depletion. We are delighted to qualify for these Add Better labels and to continue contributing to a better world.”

Note to editor:
The ConsiGma® CDC 50 is currently delivered with an integrated MODUL S tablet press. Future variants equipped with the energy-saving NexGen Press® 45 will be rebranded as the CDC 200.
