Kalligiannaki, who has been with the EBRD since 2013, will replace Andreea Moraru. She has played a key role in the Bank’s Greek operations and will now lead efforts to support sustainable economic growth in the country. Since 2015, the EBRD has invested over €7.8 billion in Greece, focusing on sectors like energy, infrastructure, and corporate finance.

Kalligiannaki, who has been with the EBRD since 2013, will succeed Andreea Moraru, recently appointed as the Bank’s Regional Director for Poland and the Baltic States.

Kalligiannaki brings extensive experience from her roles within the EBRD, including positions in Risk Management, Treasury, and at the Bank’s regional office in Warsaw. Since 2016, she has been based in Athens, where she has significantly contributed to the Bank’s operations in Greece, particularly in areas like the Greek Recovery and Resilience Facility Co-Financing Framework.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the new role, Kalligiannaki stated, “I am honoured to lead the EBRD’s efforts in supporting sustainable economic growth in Greece. Our focus will be on deepening our partnerships with Greek authorities, corporations, and financial institutions to drive long-term economic development.”

The EBRD began its operations in Greece in 2015 to assist in the country’s economic recovery. Since then, it has invested over €7.8 billion in 114 projects across various sectors, including corporate, financial, energy, and infrastructure. Notable initiatives include investments in renewable energy, property projects like The Ellinikon, and support for key institutions such as the Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation and Public Power Corporation of Greece.
