San Donato Milanese (Milan), 16-10-2012 — /europawire.eu/ — Eni is Mécène Principal of the “Raphaël, les dernières années, une rétrospective exceptionnelle sur les années de maturité du maitre italien‘ exhibit at the Louvre in Paris which will run from 11 October 2012 to 14 January 2013. The exhibit follows the artistic work of Raphael in Rome until his death and includes altarpieces, devotional paintings and ceremonial portraits that showcase the artist’s extraordinary inventive spirit and embody his ideal of aesthetic and inner perfection.

Eni renews its commitment as a Mécène Principal of major exhibits at the Louvre, following the great success of the 2008 “Mantegna (1431-1506)”, the first major retrospective in France dedicated to the work of the renowned Italian artist and the 2009 “Tiziano, Tintoretto, Veronese…Venetian Rivalry”, and the 2010 “Antiquity Rediscovered”.

The “Raphaël, les dernières années‘ exhibit is set within the context of Eni and the Louvre’s partnership, signed in 2009. The partnership sees Eni committed to the quality of Mécène Exceptionnel of the museum, carrying out important initiatives promoting art in Italy as well as in France, a country of great strategic importance for the company.

Thanks to this partnership, last year the Sala Alessi of Palazzo Marin in Milan exhibited the extraordinary work of George de La Tour,  “the Adoration of the Shepherds‘ and “St. Joseph the Carpenter‘: The two works were admired by more than 210,000 visitors. The masterpieces of previous exhibits were the “Saint John the Baptist‘ by Leonardo da Vinci (2009) and “Woman with the Mirror‘ by Tiziano (2010).

Support for culture and communities and local traditions has always been a hallmark for Eni, which chose the motto “Culture of energy, energy of culture” to describe its commitment to the promotion of artistic and cultural events in the countries in which it operates. The tradition of supporting culture comes directly from the founder Enrico Mattei, who was a great art aficionado and always in search of talent. Mattei was firmly convinced that a company in modern society should be a spokesman of new values by facilitating access to culture. This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of his death.

In France, Eni operates in fuel supply, the gas market, petrochemical (Versalis) and oil & gas industry engineering (Saipem).
