DWS Group Expands Renewable Infrastructure Portfolio with Finnish Onshore Wind Acquisition

(IN BRIEF) DWS Group has acquired the operational Maaselänkangas onshore wind farm in Oulainen, Finland, from wpd Group for an undisclosed amount. The 41.3 MW facility, operational since September 2024, comprises seven Nordex turbines and is expected to generate approximately 128.6 GWh annually. The investment supports DWS’s European infrastructure strategy, contributing to energy security and offering potential stable returns to retail and institutional investors. The acquisition marks the seventh transaction under the strategy, further expanding its portfolio of renewable assets across Europe.

(PRESS RELEASE) FRANKFURT, 4-Mar-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — DWS Group has completed the acquisition of the Maaselänkangas onshore wind farm in Oulainen, Finland, on behalf of its European infrastructure investment strategy. The asset was purchased from wpd Group for an undisclosed consideration.

Situated in the municipality of Oulainen in the North Ostrobothnia region, approximately 35 kilometres east of Kalajoki, the wind farm has been operational since September 2024. The facility consists of seven wind turbines supplied by Nordex and delivers an installed capacity of 41.3 megawatts. The project is expected to generate an annual net energy output (P50) of around 128.6 gigawatt hours.

The investment further strengthens DWS’s diversified infrastructure portfolio and supports the company’s strategy of investing in core renewable energy assets across established European markets. It also aligns with DWS’s broader objective of contributing to the European Transformation by financing infrastructure that enhances energy security and sustainability.

Peter Brodehser, Partner Investments Infrastructure at DWS, stated that the acquisition represents an attractive opportunity to deliver compelling return prospects for investors while supporting Europe’s energy independence. He highlighted that the transaction reinforces DWS’s commitment to stable, income-generating renewable infrastructure assets.

As a fully operational facility, Maaselänkangas does not carry construction risk and is positioned to deliver predictable cash flows from day one. The wind farm incorporates modern technical standards for European onshore wind installations, including an integrated anti-icing system designed to optimise performance under cold climate conditions. The project is connected to the grid via an approximately five-kilometre medium-voltage underground cable linking to an external substation.

The transaction represents the seventh acquisition under DWS’s European Investment Infrastructure Strategy. Previous investments include a solar park in Germany, three solar parks in Spain and onshore wind farms in Germany and Sweden. With the addition of Maaselänkangas, the strategy continues to expand its portfolio of renewable infrastructure assets across key European markets.
