DSV Unveils Renewable Energy Facility in Sweden to Drive Sustainable Logistics and Decarbonization

(IN BRIEF) DSV has launched its first renewable energy facilities at its Landskrona, Sweden warehouse, featuring over 100,000 square meters of rooftop solar panels generating 14 MWp of energy. The facility, capable of powering itself, charging electric vehicles, and supplying surplus energy to the local grid, aligns with DSV’s goal of achieving net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050. The project also supports decarbonization in logistics, including the electrification of road haulage. Serving as a pilot for future sustainable logistics infrastructure, the initiative is managed by DSV Energy, which aims to position the company as an active energy producer while reducing emissions and advancing its sustainability strategy.

(PRESS RELEASE) HEDEHUSENE, 16-Dec-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Global logistics leader DSV has unveiled its first renewable energy assets at its warehouse facilities in Landskrona, Sweden. This initiative marks a key milestone in DSV’s commitment to achieving net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050, reducing its carbon footprint while supporting customers in decarbonizing their logistics operations.

The new facilities feature over 100,000 square meters of rooftop solar panels with a capacity of 14 MWp, generating enough renewable energy to power the site, charge electric vehicles, and supply surplus energy to the local grid. The annual energy output is equivalent to powering approximately 1,400 homes.

Group COO Brian Ejsing emphasized the broader impact of the project: “This initiative goes beyond powering our operations. It supports the electrification of road haulage services, strengthens energy security, and aligns with our decarbonization strategy to benefit DSV and its customers, particularly in road transportation.”

The Landskrona facility is equipped with charging infrastructure for electric trucks and vehicles, demonstrating DSV’s dedication to reducing reliance on fossil fuels and minimizing direct and indirect carbon emissions.

A Blueprint for Future Projects

The Landskrona project, along with DSV’s 345,000 square-meter logistics hub in Horsens, Denmark, serves as a pilot for integrating renewable energy solutions into logistics infrastructure. These efforts aim to develop best practices for sustainable warehousing and transportation.

“This milestone marks significant progress toward decarbonizing DSV’s operations,” said Anders Rousing, Vice President of Group Operational Sustainability. “The insights gained here will shape future projects, enhancing our ability to make a lasting positive impact.”

DSV Energy, the company’s renewable energy division, will oversee the Landskrona facilities as part of its mission to transform DSV into an active energy producer. Rousing highlighted its critical role: “DSV Energy is essential to reducing emissions and advancing sustainability in global transport and logistics. The Landskrona facilities exemplify our ambition to drive meaningful change.”

By integrating renewable energy assets, DSV is taking a bold step toward a sustainable future, ensuring its operations not only meet environmental targets but also lead innovation in logistics and energy production.
