(IN BRIEF) Daimler Truck AG, in collaboration with Y-Engineering, has launched its Mercedes-Benz Arocs and Actros heavy-duty transporter series in Japan, addressing the growing demand for trucks capable of handling exceptionally heavy loads. The highlight of the launch, the Mercedes-Benz Arocs 4763 8×6, will be presented at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 in Tokyo. Specially adapted to Japan’s 3.8-meter vehicle height limit, the truck comes with a powerful 625 hp engine, additional cooling, a reinforced coupling system, and advanced safety technologies. Both Arocs and Actros are manufactured in Wörth and customized in Molsheim for heavy-duty applications. Sales and service are provided by Y-Engineering, Daimler’s trusted partner for two decades, which operates across Japan with an extensive service network. Daimler Truck sees this as a major step in meeting the country’s demand for specialized transport solutions.

(PRESS RELEASE) LEINFELDEN-ECHTERDINGEN, 1-Sept-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Daimler Truck AG, together with its long-standing partner Y-Engineering Company Ltd., has introduced two specialized Mercedes-Benz heavy-duty transporter series—Arocs and Actros—to the Japanese market. These trucks are designed specifically for handling extremely heavy cargo, including large-scale industrial equipment, wind turbine components, and infrastructure machinery.

The official debut of the new models will take place at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 in Tokyo from October 29 to November 9, where the Mercedes-Benz Arocs 4763 8×6 will be showcased. This model, equipped with a 15.6L OM 473 engine delivering 625 hp and 3,000 Nm of torque, is paired with a 16-speed PowerShift 3 Advanced transmission and features an additional cooling system and a reinforced fifth-wheel coupling. With these adaptations, it is capable of towing loads of up to 500 tons.

The Arocs has been engineered with market-specific modifications to comply with Japan’s strict maximum vehicle height regulation of 3.8 meters. To meet this requirement, Mercedes-Benz Trucks developed a configuration combining the ClassicSpace 2.3 cab with a compact auxiliary cooling tower and a four-axle chassis. The model also comes equipped with the latest in safety assistance systems, including Attention Assist, Active Brake Assist 6 (ABA6), Lane Keeping Assistant (ASGA2), and Front Guard Assist as standard.

The JMS exhibition model will feature a livery inspired by Japan’s national flag, painted in white with red accents. Production of both the Arocs and Actros takes place at the Mercedes-Benz Wörth plant, after which the trucks undergo further customization at the Molsheim facility under the “Custom Tailored Trucks” (CTT) program. Here, they are fitted with specialized heavy-duty equipment such as the additional cooling tower, a fourth axle, and reinforced coupling systems.

Both truck models employ the PowerShift 3 Advanced transmission with Turbo Retarder Clutch, which offers smooth starts, increased efficiency, rapid gear changes, and powerful braking performance. The system provides up to 980 hp of braking power even at low speeds and in reverse, ensuring maximum safety and control during heavy-load transport.

Sales and service in Japan are managed by Y-Engineering, a trusted partner of Daimler Truck for two decades. Based in Yokohama, the company serves as the general importer for Mercedes-Benz Unimog and Econic models and operates five branches while coordinating with over 100 service partners nationwide.

Stina Fagerman, Head of Marketing, Sales, and Services at Mercedes-Benz Trucks, emphasized the significance of the launch, noting that the introduction of these models represents a milestone for Japan’s transport industry. She added that customer demand for vehicles capable of transporting particularly heavy cargo has already been identified, and Daimler Truck foresees strong growth potential in this specialized market.
