Munich, 4-6-2013 — /europawire.eu/ —Daimler FleetBoard is on show at this year’s transport logistic fair at the Mercedes-Benz stand in hall A6, directly at the east entrance. The marketplace atmosphere provides a relaxed setting in which visitors can discover how the combinable service offerings from Daimler FleetBoard, Mercedes-Benz CharterWay, Mercedes-Benz Bank and Mercedes-Benz Service are able to cut fleet operating costs.

As a premium provider of telematics-assisted internet services, Daimler FleetBoard is presenting its comprehensive scope of support and services. The FleetBoard telematics system is in service with over four thousand customers worldwide, cutting fuel consumption and wear-related costs by up to 15% and yielding major increases in efficiency along their entire transport workflows.

FleetBoard Consulting: new consulting service for individual integration into corporate systems

Daimler FleetBoard is unveiling its new product support consulting service, aimed at ensuring swift implementation of the telematics system in industry-specific day-to-day operations. The FleetBoard consultants draw on their comprehensive understanding of the vehicles, IT and processes involved, and work in close consultation with customers to develop solutions that will ensure that their telematics and IT systems map the individual workflows as effectively as possible. The FleetBoard services are integrated into more than 70 standard and in-house haulage software systems, enabling users to retain their familiar operating environments while benefiting from the synergistic potential of a finely tuned and coordinated overall solution. The FleetBoard consultants oversee new link-ups to existing systems in close cooperation with the supplier of the particular software used and the customer. The practice-oriented consulting services cover support during the pilot phase and careful introduction of the telematics-assisted processes into day-to-day operations. During the test phase the consultants incorporate feedback into the ongoing implementation process. This is followed by configuration of the terminal devices on board the vehicles and intensive user training. This approach ensures the successful implementation of telematics projects across the board. Numerous companies of all sizes and from all sectors of industry have availed themselves of the consulting services and are delighted at the results. Thomas Kerkenhoff, head of logistics at Edeka Rhein-Ruhr, notes: “FleetBoard has added a great deal of stability to our logistics processes. With the consultants’ support, we have managed to map our workflows in our IT system in an ideal manner.”

Industry-specific control of individual transport processes

The FleetBoard Transport Management services facilitate the trouble-free handling of transport operations for various sectors of industry: logistics processes run smoothly, without errors, and are documented by electronic means. FleetBoard’s modular service portfolio with flexible configuration options enables transport companies to tailor the operational sequence, scope and complexity of their telematics solution precisely to their operations and the sector of industry in which they are involved. Vehicle coordinators control and monitor recurring processes by means of pre-configured standard workflows, such as loading and unloading, pallet exchange or departure monitoring. The workflows are geared to the classic transport tasks relating to hazardous goods, mixed or chilled cargo, foods, hanging goods or car components.

At its exhibition stand, FleetBoard uses the example of Edeka Rhein-Ruhr to demonstrate how a complex transport management workflow incl. barcode scanning, target-actual comparison and electronic signature is managed by means of a telematics-assisted system, also presenting such a system for the first time in an industry workshop which has been set up by the company.

Visitors at the transport logistic fair will have an opportunity to discover the benefits of a permanently installed or mobile transport management terminal: the permanently installed DispoPilot.guide with a large 7-inch (17.8 cm) screen operates as a navigation and communication device, incorporating addresses from the vehicle co-ordinator into the route guidance system. The system can be upgraded at any time to map company-specific workflows. The navigation system incorporates features such as Lane Keeping Assist and accords due consideration to the transportation of hazardous materials when planning routes. DispoPilot.mobile is alternatively available for use outside of the vehicle, featuring an integrated barcode scanner for checking freight lists and a touchscreen for digital signatures. In this way, the driver records information on a job- trip- and package-related basis. FleetBoard duly transfers these data to a job scheduling, inventory control or ERP system, e.g. for actual costing purposes.

FleetBoard Performance Analysis remains the benchmark – comparability officially confirmed by Bureau Veritas

Fleet operators use FleetBoard Performance Analysis to achieve reductions of up to 15 percent in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. To this end, FleetBoard records and processes technical data from the vehicle, presenting information such as speed, brake deployment, engine map, stops, idle times with running engine and application severity with mean gradient and vehicle weight. The independent testing institution Bureau Veritas has confirmed Performance Analysis to be an objective assessment system for the entire fleet: Performance Analysis measures driving performance irrespective of the make of vehicle, model series, usage profile and the driver’s identity. Drawing on driver trainers’ extensive practical experience, the tried and tested FleetBoard algorithm has undergone further development and refinement to provide the most precise basis for economic viability analyses and premium wage systems.

Performance Analysis offers many advantages to professional truck drivers: “Through a foresighted style of driving, a good driver can reduce wear and fuel consumption. A good mark shows how the driver is contributing towards the success of the company”, affirms professional trainer Jean-Luc Merck. The FleetBoard concept is very simple: the drivers learn to drive in an economical and foresighted manner and the transparent, regular reporting ensures that they retain this driving style. FleetBoard’s new information campaign “FairGrade” is aimed at professional truck drivers and their fleet managers. “FairGrade” means that they can rely on receiving a fair level of pay appropriate to their area of work. Performance Analysis assesses the actual driving performance while also taking into account the technology on board new model series, such as Eco-Roll and the use of kickdown mode in the new Actros.
