C&W Networks obtains MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE 2.0) industry standard certification for E-Line, E-LAN, E-TREE, and E-ACCESS

Partnership enables C&W Networks to implement more advanced connectivity using Juniper’s MX Series Routers

LONDON, 04-Nov-2016 — /EuropaWire/ — C&W Networks, a division of C&W Communications (C&W), one of the largest full service communications and entertainment providers in the Caribbean and Latin American region, now part of Liberty Global (LiLAC Group) is pleased to announce the latest award of MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE 2.0) industry standard certification for E-Line, E-LAN, E-TREE, and E-ACCESS services through the use of Juniper Networks (NYSE: JNPR) MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers. The CE 2.0 industry certifications represent a milestone for C&W Networks and further accelerates its ability to deliver a more dynamic and customized Ethernet services portfolio to many more locations across the Caribbean and Latin America region.

C&W Networks passed a rigorous testing process covering a full set of requirements including performance and bandwidth profiles. Using Juniper Networks MX104, MX240, MX480, and MX960 routers, the C&W Networks International MPLS Ethernet Network was certified MEF 2.0 ready in June 2016. The MEF’s Carrier Ethernet Certification Program is designed to ensure that equipment and services comply with MEF standards and enable carrier grade interoperability. With the newly obtained CE 2.0 certification, C&W Network’s expansive core fiber transmission networks and Ethernet managed platform are ready to meet the latest global carrier requirements, offering more scale and more reliable solutions to customers.

“Achieving this certification further demonstrates our commitment to provide carrier class Ethernet interconnectivity throughout the Caribbean and Latin America,” said Paul Scott, President, C&W Networks. “Upgrading to the latest MEF CE 2.0 certification, we are able to precisely demonstrate the continued high performance, reliability, and network scalability, according to exacting standards our customers require, while also paving the way for future innovations and increased service quality.”

Juniper Networks MX Series Routers have pioneered many routing innovations since its inception in 2006, including the introduction of the industry’s highest capacity edge router with the MX2020 in 2012 and the first full-featured, carrier-grade virtual router with the vMX in 2014. The MX Series, powered by programmable Trio silicon and the Juniper Networks Junos software, gives customers investment protection and offers a network application development platform that enables Service Providers to launch new value-added services easily at the same time that, seamlessly integrates with evolving SDN and NFV solutions. To date, Juniper Networks has sold an MX Series router every hour since the series was unveiled in 2006.

“Juniper Networks MX Routers are present in 92% of the world’s largest telecommunications companies and have been able to drive TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) reductions of over 49% on average,” stated Manuel Terrero, Senior Sales Director, Juniper Networks CALA.  “We are pleased to partner with C&W Networks to bring this CE 2.0 certified connectivity to their markets and customers.”
