Crédit Agricole CIB Appoints Olivier Gavalda as Chairman of the Board of Directors

(IN BRIEF) On 5 May 2025, Olivier Gavalda was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors at Crédit Agricole CIB, succeeding Philippe Brassac. Gavalda, a long-standing member of Crédit Agricole, has held numerous key positions throughout his career, including Chief Executive Officer of several regional divisions, and will take on the role of Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole S.A. on 14 May 2025. The Board of Directors thanked Philippe Brassac for his leadership and welcomed Gavalda’s new appointment.

(PRESS RELEASE) MONTROUGE, 6-May-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — On 5 May 2025, following its Annual General Meeting, the Board of Directors of Crédit Agricole CIB appointed Olivier Gavalda as the new Chairman of the Board, effective immediately. He succeeds Philippe Brassac, whose term of office has concluded. The Board expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Philippe Brassac for his outstanding leadership during his tenure.

Olivier Gavalda Appointed as Chairman

Olivier Gavalda has had a distinguished career at Crédit Agricole, having joined Crédit Agricole du Midi in 1988. Over the years, he held various key roles, including Organisation Project Manager, Branch Manager, Training Manager, and Head of Marketing. In 1998, he moved to Crédit Agricole Ile-de-France as Regional Director. His career trajectory saw him appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole Sud Rhône-Alpes in 2002, where he led Development and Human Resources. By 2007, he had become Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole Champagne-Bourgogne, followed by a position as Head of the Regional Banks Division at Crédit Agricole S.A. in 2010.

In 2015, Gavalda was promoted to Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Development, Customer, and Innovation at Crédit Agricole S.A., and in 2016, he became Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole Ile-de-France. In November 2022, Gavalda was named Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole S.A., responsible for Universal Bank. He will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole S.A. effective 14 May 2025.

Gavalda holds a master’s degree in Econometrics and a post-graduate diploma (DESS) in organisation/computing from Arts et Métiers.
