CNMV Chairman Carlos San Basilio Joins OECD Bureau to Advance Global Corporate Governance

(IN BRIEF) The OECD Corporate Governance Committee, with Carlos San Basilio, CNMV Chairman, newly appointed to its Bureau, is dedicated to improving economic efficiency, sustainability, and financial stability through enhanced corporate governance policies and practices. It coordinates the Organisation’s efforts in governance and finance, supports the implementation of the G20/OECD Principles, and engages non-OECD economies in governance discussions via Regional Roundtables across Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East and North Africa. The Committee includes OECD members, invited nations, and observer organizations like the FSB, IMF, and World Bank.

(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, 1-Apr-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — The Committee plays a pivotal role in steering the Organisation’s efforts concerning corporate governance and financial matters. Carlos San Basilio, who serves as the Chairman of the CNMV, has recently been named a member of the OECD Corporate Governance Committee’s Bureau.

This Committee strives to enhance economic performance, promote sustainable development, and bolster financial resilience by refining corporate governance frameworks and encouraging exemplary business practices. Among its responsibilities, it orchestrates the Organisation’s initiatives in corporate governance and finance while aiding in the rollout of the G20/OECD Principles of Corporate Governance.

Additionally, the Committee fosters dialogue on governance issues with nations outside the OECD membership. To this end, it organizes Regional Roundtables on Corporate Governance in regions such as Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East and North Africa.

Comprising OECD member states and select invited countries, the Committee also welcomes the Financial Stability Board (FSB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Bank as observers.
