Professor David Lambert to Chair world’s oldest independent journal of anaesthesia

LEICESTER, 29-Mar-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Professor David Lambert of the University of Leicester’s Department of Cardiovascular Sciences has been elected to Chair the Board of the British Journal of Anaesthesia (BJA).

The BJA is the #1 journal in category with an impact factor of 5.616.

As well as publishing the Journal, the BJA is one of the major independent funders of anaesthetic (and its related disciplines) research with a portfolio spanning undergraduate students through to career development awards for more senior academics.

Over a twenty year period Professor Lambert has been Editor, Grants Officer and Director of Administration and now is the first non-clinician to chair the board.

Professor Lambert said: “This is the realisation of two decades work for the journal. I am humbled by the trust the board has in me and I hope to repay that trust.”

The BJA has also just appointed its first non-UK Editor in Chief – Professor H Hemmings from New York, so there are major changes in the journal that will take it from strength to strength.

Founded in 1923, the British Journal of Anaesthesia remains the oldest and largest independent journal of anaesthesia.

The journal strives to support research and discovery in the field by publishing the best original articles in all branches of anaesthesia.

The journal is proudly affiliated with The Royal College of Anaesthetists, The College of Anaesthetists of Ireland, and The Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists. This affiliation allows college members access to the BJA and its sister title, BJA Education. Both journals retain their editorial independence.
