Bosch and Ducati Unveil Advanced Brake System for Racetrack Excellence

(IN BRIEF) Bosch and Ducati have co-developed a new electronic Combined Brake System (eCBS) designed for racetrack performance, which will debut on the new Ducati Panigale V4 at World Ducati Week 2024. The advanced eCBS technology, which integrates data from multiple sensors, ensures optimal brake pressure and stability without additional rider input. This innovation is part of the longstanding partnership between Bosch and Ducati, aimed at enhancing motorcycle safety and performance. Bosch will showcase this technology and other innovations at the World Ducati Week from July 26 to 28, 2024.

(PRESS RELEASE) STUTTGART/MISANO, 26-Jul-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Bosch and Ducati’s engineering teams have co-developed an innovative electronic Combined Brake System (eCBS) designed to enhance racetrack performance. This cutting-edge technology will debut on the new Ducati Panigale V4 at the World Ducati Week 2024 in Misano, Italy.

Fevzi Yildirim, head of Bosch Two-Wheeler and Powersports in Europe, emphasized the system’s impact: “The Bosch race eCBS takes the safety and performance of sport motorcycles a big step forward and is further evidence of the ongoing fruitful cooperation between Bosch and Ducati.”

The new race eCBS builds on Bosch’s proven eCBS technology, allowing the front and rear brakes to be combined automatically when only one is applied. For the racetrack, the system checks front brake pressure, lean angle, side-slip angle, and rear-wheel slip 100 times per second to generate optimal brake pressure on the rear wheel. This innovation ensures braking stability and cornering precision without requiring additional rider input on the rear brake.

Alessandro Valia, Ducati’s official tester, highlighted the system’s benefits: “The new race eCBS system improves the bike’s braking performance and allows riders of all levels to achieve riding capabilities that were previously out of reach. This system emulates a professional rider’s braking technique, generating rear brake pressure even after the front brake is released, enhancing corner entry and overall control.”

This project marks a significant milestone in the 15-year partnership between Bosch and Ducati, showcasing their commitment to enhancing motorcycle safety and performance. Bosch will also participate in the World Ducati Week from July 26 to 28, offering talks, round tables, and demonstrations to provide insights into the latest motorcycle safety technologies, including the new race eCBS.
