(PRESS RELEASE) WIENER NEUDORF, 28-Aug-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — In a recent act of kindness, Austrian supermarket chain BILLA has extended its support to Ukrainian children by providing free packed lunches during their visit to Vienna. The initiative was part of a larger effort organized by Österreichische Kinderfreunde, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Embassy, to offer a holiday experience in Austria for 44 children from the war-torn cities of Kharkiv and Odessa.

The children, who are around ten years old, were invited to spend time at the picturesque Falkencamp Döbriach on Lake Millstätter See and enjoy a few days in Vienna. To enhance their experience in the Austrian capital, BILLA stepped in to provide nourishing packed lunches, which included a variety of snacks such as turkey sausage and cheese sandwiches, fruit, biscuits, and drinks.

The handover of the packed lunches took place at BILLA’s Corso store on Opernring, where the children and their mothers were greeted by BILLA Sales Manager Ludmil Krastev, along with representatives from Österreichische Kinderfreunde and members of the Austrian government. The gesture was warmly received by all involved.

“When we were approached to contribute to this trip, we didn’t hesitate for a moment,” said BILLA Sales Manager Ludmil Krastev. “We were delighted to provide these packed lunches, and if we can help in a simple and quick way, we’re always happy to do so.”

Federal Councillor Daniela Gruber-Pruner, Managing Director of Österreichische Kinderfreunde, expressed her gratitude for the support: “The days spent in Carinthia and Vienna were meant to give the Ukrainian children and their mothers a much-needed break from the challenges they face at home. The solidarity shown has been incredible, and we extend a heartfelt thanks to BILLA for their generous contribution.”

This initiative reflects BILLA’s ongoing commitment to supporting communities in need and highlights the power of collaboration in providing relief and joy to those affected by conflict.
