Alfa Laval Unveils New LNG Fuel Supply System Designed for High Pressure Marine Applications

(IN BRIEF) Alfa Laval has launched FCM LNG, a new LNG fuel supply system designed to support shipowners adopting LNG as a transitional marine fuel. Introduced at Marintec 2025, the system integrates advanced cryogenic technology following Alfa Laval’s recent acquisition of Fives, combining it with the company’s established expertise in fuel supply systems and heat transfer. FCM LNG is engineered to deliver reliable, flexible and efficient LNG fuel supply under demanding marine conditions, supporting high-pressure gas injection and a wide range of vessel requirements. With test benches planned for 2026 and marine deliveries from 2027, the system strengthens Alfa Laval’s alternative fuel portfolio and underlines its commitment to supporting the maritime industry’s decarbonisation journey and future multi-fuel strategies.

(PRESS RELEASE) LUND, 16-Dec-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Alfa Laval has announced the launch of FCM LNG, a new fuel supply solution designed specifically for LNG-powered vessels, marking a further expansion of the company’s portfolio for alternative marine fuels. Introduced during Marintec 2025, the system integrates advanced cryogenic technology to provide shipowners with a reliable, efficient and fully engineered LNG fuel supply solution as the maritime industry accelerates its decarbonisation efforts.

As LNG continues to establish itself as a transitional fuel, demand is growing for solutions that can deliver immediate emissions reductions while remaining cost-effective and operationally robust. With infrastructure for fuels such as methanol and ammonia still developing globally, shipowners are seeking dependable LNG systems that support performance targets, regulatory compliance and effective management of both capital and operating costs. The new FCM LNG system has been developed in response to these market needs.

The system combines Alfa Laval’s long-standing expertise in marine fuel supply systems and heat transfer with cryogenic technologies from Fives, a company recently acquired by Alfa Laval. This integration enables a high-performance LNG fuel line solution capable of safe and efficient operation under extreme cryogenic conditions and high pressures. Designed to support high-pressure gas injection for modern marine diesel engines, FCM LNG offers flexibility across a wide range of capacities and operating requirements.

Alfa Laval has progressively strengthened its capabilities in cryogenic processes and pump technologies through the acquisitions of CorHex in 2015 and Fives Cryogenics in 2025, including Cryomec centrifugal and reciprocating pumps. By combining these capabilities with its established marine application expertise, the company aims to deliver a holistic LNG fuel supply system focused on reliability, efficiency and operational safety. The first test benches for the system are scheduled for delivery in 2026, with marine deliveries expected to begin in 2027.

The launch of FCM LNG also reflects Alfa Laval’s broader strategy to support a multi-fuel future. Alongside LNG, the company continues to invest in solutions for methanol, LPG and ammonia, ensuring that shipowners and shipyards have access to technologies that align with both current fuel strategies and long-term decarbonisation pathways. Through this approach, Alfa Laval positions itself as a long-term technology partner for the maritime industry’s energy transition.
