Acquisition of The English Cheesecake Company Boosts Emmi’s Retail Reach and International Growth Potential

(IN BRIEF) Emmi Group is set to acquire The English Cheesecake Company Ltd., a leading UK premium cheesecake producer widely recognised across major British retailers. The move aims to strengthen Emmi’s desserts portfolio by tapping into the rapidly expanding global cheesecake trend. Founded in 2000 and generating around GBP 23 million in sales last year, The English Cheesecake Company offers artisanal cheesecakes, vegan varieties, frozen treats and snack formats that appeal to both retail and food service customers. Its strong retail positioning complements the Mademoiselle Desserts Group’s existing presence in UK food service, expanding Emmi’s market reach. According to EVP Didier Boudy, the acquisition will enhance Emmi’s position in the premium desserts category, support growth aligned with global indulgence trends and create opportunities for portfolio synergies.

(PRESS RELEASE) LUCERNE, 25-Nov-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — The Emmi Group has announced that it will acquire The English Cheesecake Company Ltd., a well-known premium cheesecake producer and a standout favourite among UK retail consumers. With cheesecake continuing to grow in popularity worldwide, the acquisition will broaden Emmi’s innovative desserts portfolio and reinforce the company’s role as a leading category player in premium indulgent desserts.

Founded in 2000 as a family-run business, The English Cheesecake Company has built a reputation over more than 25 years for crafting high-quality cheesecakes inspired by traditional British recipes. The company generated approximately GBP 23 million in sales last financial year. Its products—ranging from classic cheesecakes to vegan options, frozen creations and convenient snack-sized formats—have earned a loyal following across both retail and food service channels thanks to their artisanal craftsmanship and contemporary flavour profiles.

The brand holds a strong foothold in the UK premium cheesecake market and is stocked by all major British retail chains. While the Mademoiselle Desserts Group, part of Emmi, has already established a strong presence in the UK food service sector, The English Cheesecake Company’s retail-focused offering is a natural complement to its distribution strategy. The brand’s authenticity, quality and recognition offer clear opportunities to expand Emmi’s dessert footprint both domestically and internationally.

Didier Boudy, EVP Emmi Desserts, described the acquisition as a strategic move that reinforces the company’s growth ambitions. “The bolt-on acquisition increases our presence in the fast-growing premium cheesecakes segment and contributes to the global indulgence megatrend. This represents a further step towards advancing our strong market position in the global premium desserts market and creating synergies within our portfolio,” he said.
