CEP: Get involved with the World Congress on Probation: Call for papers and video

13-2-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — Now is the time to get involved with the World Congress on Probation: The registrations have been coming in, the hotel locator is live on the website and the call for papers and short video’s has been opened. The first speaker is confirmed as well, Frank Porporino, Canadian criminologist who will speak on the international perspectives on Community Justice.

The themes of the Congress have been narrowed down to the following:

•             International perspectives on community justice
•             Diversion (at any stage of the justice process)
•             Restorative justice
•             Effective community interventions
•             Alternatives to custody
•             Resettlement of prisoners in the community

Would you like to be involved in one of these specific fields? One way is to submit in the call for papers and short video clips. A description of the call can be found in the Congress section of the website. The deadline for both calls is 30 April 2013. Please send the summary of your paper or plan for your video to the following email address: submissions@worldcongressonprobation.org.

The places for the Congress are limited, so be sure to secure your place when you consider to submit a paper or video (here). It is also possible to browse hotels in the neighbourhood of the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (QEII) in the Venue section of the website. The prices will go up, for this reason it is important to make a reservation early. The interactive map makes it easy to do.

It is possible to engage with the World Congress in several ways. For questions the CEP staff  is available via email and telephone. Also, the CEP Forum has a special section dedicated to the Congress. Here you can leave your tips, ask questions or start a discussion on a specific topic with others in the probation field.  If you would like to join the conversation on Twitter it is possible to use the hashtag #wcp13 and your tweet will be automatically included on the Congress home page. Or you can respond to the CEP social media channels.
