Two awards from ContiTech and Stihl demonstrate Sapa’s focus on exceeding customer expectations through quality, value creation and supply performance

Two global leaders in their respective fields have named Sapa as one of their 2014 suppliers of the year.

OSLO, 6-5-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — ContiTech Vibration Control has honored Sapa’s aluminium extrusion plant in Slovakia, and Stihl has presented its top award to Sapa’s aluminium tubing plant in Belgium.

The awards demonstrate Sapa’s focus on exceeding customer expectations through quality, value creation and supply performance.

Over the last six years, Sapa in Slovakia has supplied 13.5 million pieces to ContiTech in Europe and Mexico. These include aluminium parts for engine-transmission brackets and internal aluminium cores for dampening blocks. Close collaboration and a commitment to quality and on-time delivery resulted in Sapa being selected as one of ContiTech’s top suppliers.

“Delivering great quality parts and innovative technologies to our customers are hugely important to us, and we continue to strive to do our best to always be one step ahead in order to add value for our customers,” says managing director Teodor Kvapil of Sapa Profiles Slovakia.

ContiTech Vibration Control, a subsidiary of Germany-based Continental AG, delivers vibration control, sealing technology and noise insulation systems to automotive OEMs around the world. The company selected five suppliers – out of 180 – as its suppliers of the year.

R&D driven
Stihl is a leading global manufacturer of chain saws and many other outdoor power tools, also with its base in Germany.

Since the start of their cooperation in Germany some 20 years ago, Sapa in Lichtervelde now delivers its products globally to all of Stihl’s main production plants – in Brazil, China, Europe and the United States.

Sapa delivers a diverse range of welded aluminium tubes to Stihl for use in hand-held chainsaws, trimmers, professional brush cutters and other products.

As with Sapa, Stihl’s mindset is driven by research and development, and the company is committed to zero defects and zero claims. Its yardstick for the award covers excellence in quality, technology, innovation, service, on-time delivery and value. “This is a major achievement for us and an acknowledgement for all the hard work this team has done throughout the years,” says global sales director Hubbe Vanneste, who is based at the Lichtervelde plant.

Sapa was one of five companies to earn Stihl’s top supplier award.

Honored and proud
Tolga Egrilmezer, executive vice president responsible for strategy and business development for Sapa, says the company is “honored and proud to be recognized by not just one, but two of our valued customers. This is a testament to the commitment of our employees, from research labs to the shop floor, who are delivering high-quality aluminium solutions with service excellence.

“We believe that smart logistics solutions and punctual deliveries are as important as the solutions we deliver. It doesn’t matter how good our products are, if they are not where they need to be at exactly the right time.”

Sapa works in close collaboration with customers in providing aluminium solutions that add value. The company uses the competence, experience and resources available locally as well as across the Sapa group to meet the changing needs of its customers, large or small.
