Bechtle Expands Portuguese IT Services Footprint with Acquisition of RIS 2048 and Evoware

(IN BRIEF) Bechtle AG has acquired Portuguese IT systems integrator RIS 2048, including its Evoware consulting business, strengthening its market position in Portugal and advancing its European acquisition strategy. The deal expands Bechtle’s consulting and services capabilities in Iberia, adds 165 employees and more than €50 million in annual revenue, and reinforces the group’s ambition to become a leading IT services provider across Southern Europe.

(PRESS RELEASE) NECKARSULM/AVEIRO, 30-Jan-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Bechtle AG has expanded its presence in Southern Europe through the acquisition of RIS 2048, a well-established IT systems integrator headquartered in Aveiro, Portugal, with additional offices in Lisbon and Porto. The transaction, completed on 29 January 2026, represents a significant step in Bechtle’s ongoing European growth strategy and materially strengthens its market position in Portugal.

Founded in 2000, RIS 2048 will continue to operate within the Bechtle Group under the existing RIS and Evoware brands. Together, the two businesses employ 165 people and focus primarily on enterprise and mid-market customers. In 2025, RIS and Evoware generated combined revenues exceeding €50 million, underlining their strong commercial footing in the Portuguese IT services market.

As part of the transaction, co-founders and former majority shareholders Luís Catalão, Managing Director of RIS 2048, and Nuno Silva, Managing Director of Evoware, will remain in leadership roles, ensuring continuity in strategy, customer relationships and operational expertise. The integration into Bechtle is intended to accelerate growth by leveraging the scale, financial strength and international reach of a large European IT group.

RIS and Evoware bring complementary capabilities to Bechtle’s existing operations in Portugal. Evoware has built a strong reputation in enterprise consulting, cloud solutions and data centre delivery, and is recognised for its expertise in HPE GreenLake environments. RIS, meanwhile, specialises in systems integration for mid-market customers, offering a broad portfolio of IT products and services. Together, the two companies expand Bechtle’s Portuguese portfolio beyond its previously commerce-focused activities, adding significant consulting and services depth.

The acquisition further consolidates Bechtle’s footprint across the Iberian Peninsula. Following the deal, the group now operates under three brands in Portugal—Bechtle, RIS and Evoware—and four in Spain—Bechtle, Grupo Solutia, iDoo and Prosol—covering all major economic regions. Across Portugal and Spain, Bechtle now employs more than 1,000 people.

John Malone, Executive Vice President South & East Europe at Bechtle AG, highlighted the strategic importance of the acquisition, noting that the Portuguese market offers strong growth potential and aligns with Bechtle’s ambition to rank among the top five IT service providers in Iberia by 2030. He described the RIS and Evoware teams as a valuable addition that will strengthen the group’s capabilities across consulting, services and enterprise IT.

Luís Catalão emphasised the long-term opportunities created by joining a financially strong and future-oriented European IT group, pointing to the potential for synergies, accelerated growth and increased market share. Nuno Silva added that Bechtle’s international presence enhances Evoware’s ability to serve enterprise customers while opening new avenues to broaden its service portfolio and continue developing within an international environment.

As customary, the financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
