Daimler Buses Strengthens Sustainability Strategy with New Reman Core Consolidation Center in Neu-Ulm

Neu-Ulm becomes the central logistics hub for genuine remanufactured parts for Truck and Bus

(IN BRIEF) Daimler Buses has launched a new Reman Core Consolidation Center at its Neu-Ulm plant, bringing the coordination of remanufacturing logistics for truck and bus parts in-house. The expanded facility centralises the inspection and distribution of used components for reconditioning, strengthening efficiency, sustainability and circular economy practices across Daimler Truck and Daimler Buses.

(PRESS RELEASE) NEU-ULM, 30-Jan-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Daimler Buses has strengthened its remanufacturing and circular economy operations with the launch of a new Reman Core Consolidation Center (CCC) at its Neu-Ulm site. The facility has now entered full operation and marks a strategic shift as the company brings the coordination of remanufacturing logistics for both buses and trucks in-house for the first time.

To enable the new operation, Daimler Buses expanded an existing production hall at the Neu-Ulm plant by approximately 5,000 square metres. The CCC now serves as the central inbound hub for used truck and bus components intended for remanufacturing, including engines and transmissions. From Neu-Ulm, these parts are inspected by a dedicated specialist team and then distributed to the appropriate Daimler Buses and Daimler Truck plants in Germany or to selected external suppliers for industrial reconditioning.

Previously, the coordination of remanufacturing logistics had been handled by an external service provider. By internalising this process, Daimler Buses aims to improve operational efficiency, strengthen quality oversight, and reduce environmental impact through more streamlined logistics and better integration across the Group.

Bernd Mack, Head of Aftersales at Daimler Buses, described the new center as a key milestone for the Neu-Ulm site and for the wider organisation. He emphasised that centralising Reman logistics at the location not only enhances efficiency and sustainability but also demonstrates how the site is being continuously developed to maximise synergies within the Daimler Truck Group.

Remanufacturing plays a central role in Daimler Truck and Daimler Buses’ circular economy strategy. In the Reman process, used components are dismantled, thoroughly cleaned, industrially reconditioned, and reassembled using new wear parts, either in the company’s own plants or by certified suppliers working to strict specifications. The result is remanufactured genuine parts that meet the same quality standards as new components while offering customers a cost-effective alternative.

Beyond cost advantages, remanufacturing significantly conserves resources by extending the life cycle of components and reducing waste. Customers can purchase these reconditioned parts through Daimler Buses Aftersales, contributing to lower operating costs while supporting more sustainable vehicle maintenance.

The CCC supports Daimler Truck’s broader circularity approach, which encompasses redesign, waste reduction, repair and reuse, remanufacturing, and recycling of vehicles, components, and materials. By systematically managing material flows and closing loops wherever possible, the Group is working to reduce its environmental footprint and strengthen long-term resilience.

The Neu-Ulm plant itself plays a pivotal role within the Daimler Buses production network. As the competence center for coaches across all drive types, the site employs around 3,800 people and hosts final assembly for Mercedes-Benz and Setra coaches. It also houses in-house seat production, global Aftersales spare parts logistics, a paint competence center, development and testing facilities for safety and assistance systems, and a competence center for 3D-printed parts.
