(IN BRIEF) Swiss start-up BTRY AG has secured $5.7 million in an oversubscribed seed round to industrialize its ultra-thin solid-state batteries, combining rapid charging, high safety, and temperature stability. The funding round, led by Redstone VC with support from Bloomhaus Ventures, Linear Capital, and others, will enable BTRY to scale roll-to-roll production and establish strategic partnerships for global deployment. The batteries, ideal for connected labels, sensors, and wearables, operate safely up to 150°C and charge within a minute. BTRY’s approach blends Swiss material innovation with sustainable, solvent-free production, positioning it as a leader in the next wave of European battery technology.

(PRESS RELEASE) DÜBENDORF, 6-Nov-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Swiss-based battery innovator BTRY AG has successfully raised $5.7 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round to accelerate the industrial rollout of its ultra-thin solid-state batteries, marking a key milestone for Europe’s deep-tech energy sector. The round, led by Redstone VC, saw participation from Bloomhaus Ventures, Linear Capital, Kickfund, Kick Foundation, and CustomCells founders Leopold König and Torge Thönnessen, with renewed commitments from High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) and Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB).

BTRY’s new generation of solid-state batteries delivers fast charging, intrinsic safety, and temperature resilience up to 150°C, packed into an ultra-thin format starting at just 0.1 mm. These attributes make them ideal for powering connected labels, wireless sensors, and wearable devices — markets that conventional batteries cannot adequately serve. The company now plans to scale up to industrial roll-to-roll production, focusing on developing manufacturing processes and securing integration partnerships for next-generation electronic products.

“The oversubscription of this round underscores the strong confidence from leading industrial and deep-tech investors,” said Moritz Futscher, CEO and Co-Founder of BTRY. “Our collaboration with this global investor network will enable us to transform cutting-edge research into scalable, market-ready products.”

BTRY’s design leverages solid-state technology from semiconductor manufacturing, reducing the need for liquid electrolytes and enabling safer, thinner, and more energy-dense cells. The batteries can fully charge in a minute, making them ideal for rapid-power applications such as industrial IoT devices. According to Mohamed Foulser, Investment Director at Redstone VC, “BTRY offers the perfect solution for customers building the next generation of connected technologies — compact, powerful, and safe.”

The company’s sustainability credentials are also strong, thanks to solvent-free production and minimal material waste, positioning it as a European leader in eco-conscious energy innovation. Investors such as Bloomhaus Ventures and Linear Capital have highlighted BTRY’s potential to drive a “Battery Moment” in Europe, combining Swiss research excellence with scalable industrial potential.

As the global energy storage market continues to evolve, BTRY’s fusion of miniaturization, durability, and environmental responsibility could redefine how power is integrated into the smallest connected devices — from logistics tags to industrial sensors — setting a new benchmark for the future of battery innovation.
