(IN BRIEF) BT has finalized the sale of its Irish wholesale and enterprise business to Speed Fibre Group after receiving approval from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission of Ireland. While divesting this unit, BT will retain a significant footprint in the Irish market, employing over 300 staff to serve multinational companies and large organisations, along with more than 100 procurement experts in its BT Sourced unit in Dublin. The company will also continue to deliver the Emergency Call Answering Service. A long-term agreement between BT and Speed Fibre Group will allow both to source connectivity for their customers, ensuring continuity and collaboration. (PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 2-Sep-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — BT has announced the completion of the sale of its Irish wholesale and enterprise business to Speed Fibre Group, following clearance by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission of Ireland. The transaction, originally revealed on 5 February 2025, marks a key step in BT’s strategy to streamline its operations while reinforcing its focus on global services.

Despite the divestment, BT will continue to maintain a significant presence in Ireland, with more than 300 employees supporting multinational corporations and major organisations. The company will keep its offices in Dublin and across regional locations, and it will remain responsible for delivering the Emergency Call Answering Service. Additionally, BT’s global procurement division, BT Sourced, based in Dublin, employs over 100 specialists who will continue to play a central role in the company’s operations.

As part of the deal, BT and Speed Fibre Group have signed a long-term agreement enabling both parties to source connectivity for their respective customers. This partnership ensures that both companies’ client bases will benefit from continued collaboration and enhanced connectivity options.
